These aren't all for Buses but they are all rebuilt at the University College training program. The site is http://www.bcauction.ca/open.dll/welcome go to browse then Vehicles and Automotive. Scroll down a bit and there are several for sale. I have no personal interest in these nor do I know anyone who does..... Purely for entertainment and information only......

The 8V-71 and the Cat 3406A would be good considerations for buses. I would steer away from the twin turbo 475 Cummins-they were a problematic design. Good Luck, TomC

These units are mostly good for parts. In speaking with the instructors there, the units are taken apart and put back together a number of times to teach the students the inner workings of the engines. I donated a Mitsubishi V-12 a couple of years ago and it is on it's 3rd tear down now. I am sure there may be some runners, but as with everything, buyer beware. :) :) :)

Thanks, I was thinking about picking one up as a spare. Nice to have someone local who can check things out..

Fraser, I teach mechanics at TRU in Kamloops, and we have a number of diesel engines. Most of them are ok, but some of them are made out of a number of engines to make one. They all run but the are never worked hard. If you could get them to rebuild one for you and bought the parts it would be worth it. The labour is usually free or a small donation.
