Went last week to the FMCA rally at Indio, Ca. Stayed at the fairgrounds. There were around 1500 coaches-maybe 20 buses. They had about 50 new motorhomes you could go through. While they look great from the outside, they were put together cheaper than cheap. All had multiple slide outs. There were two 45ft Marathon Prevost conversions also there. One was a '99 for $199,000 and the other was a '00 for around $210,000. Even though they were Marathon conversions, they still had the complicated electronic switching for the lights, and there was evidence of cheapness if you looked behind the scenes.
One of the buses that was with the Northwest Busnuts (Dick Wright's club from Wrico International) was an Eagle 5 with a wood burning smoker built into one of the bays that pulled out on slides. Needless to say the Tri tip we had was delicious, and Dick was gracious to include us on one of there dinners. Best $6 dinner I've ever had.
To say this was a huge get together is an understatement. It was fun and the weather was absolutely perfect. Dry camped, and easily made it through the 5 nights we were out with the 130gal of water we had. Good Luck, TomC
