Title: brushes in evaporator motor on mci 8

 any one had any expierence on installing brushes on the evaporator motor on a mci 8, the 7 book says you have to install them and adjust them using a amp meter , the company i bought the coach from says they just put them in, any one don this before?thank in advance kevin

Hi Kevin,

DC motors are sometimes just that simple.

One thing to look for while you have the brushes out, look for play in the shaft at the bearings. [up and down play]

If there is any play, this may be the cause of your brushes wearing out and at that point you should look for a replacement

or send your motor to a rebuilder.

Kevin we just change them! But is a particular coach starts going through them more often than average than the other coaches then we look at why like Nick said! Very rarely a problem though, usually just worn from normal use! FWIW I HTH! ;D  BK  ;D
