Things were slow enough at work that we made up some fuel lines and battery cables and started the replacement engine for my 4106. The engine came from NIMCO in NJ and I was told that it was a fresh rebuild using a replacement block that they did just a few months before the transit buses were replaced. The engine was still in the bus when I bought it. True to what they told me, the block and liners/pistons/rings looked great! The blower, not so great. BUT, it fired right off, smoked for only 20 second, ran smooth and had 65 psi at idle for oil pressure (stone cold engine).

Sorry to say I can't access the video. Slow computer dial up speed. Are you having fun doing all of this stuff? Did you bother to hook up mufflers, or did you just LET HER RIP with just the exhaust manifolds in place? Very cool!
I will NOT tell you the time we did about the same thing with a rebuilt 453N, but used poor judgement and did not chain down the mill enough and it got loose and ran across the floor. He he he. Long ago and far away. HB of CJ

No mufflers, and if you could see the video (as poor as it is) no intake manifold over the blower! It was the first time I started the engine. Given the fact that it started with small batteries in my cold shop I'm pretty pleased. Plus 65psi at startup is 40 psi more than the engine in my bus now!
Need to figure out if it's cheaper to rebuild this blower or find a good condition used one. The amount of oil leaking inside from the flywheel side seemed excessive.
