Title: What is this items item?
Post by: MattC on January 16, 2009, 04:15:30 PM: I have a 102 in my driveway and am perplexed at the function of this device. The brass plugs are dead center just below the windscreen on about the same level as the wipers.

I've asked around a bit. Some folks (no names mentioned) thought it was an attachment point for a moose lure. The most plausible answer seemed to be it was a plug for where the door release would be on an MC8.

I tried removing it but the plug is 19/32 or some such, not a standard SAE or Metric wrench.

On this rig, the valve for emergency air to release the brakes is located in the bottom door which is the windshield washer fluid / horn compartment. However I was concerned about it being air as well. LoL.

Well guess what you found! ;D From now on, that bolt shall be technically referred to as the "Bugg's Bolt". ::)

Does your MCI's front door open by a toggling a switch on the dashboard?

If so, the mystery of the "Bus Bolt" is now solved!

On the "A" series coaches that had a manually operated door mechanism, there was a "T" handle that came out thru that spot to release the mechanism from outside. Similar to the plunger on the front of earlier MCIs (GMC's too, for that matter.)

Post by: busshawg on January 19, 2009, 11:53:15 AM: I'm with Busing, T handle for the door relaese. Mine has a big button , knob or what ever you want to call to to unlatch the door from th eoutside there, looks like your is plugged with that bolt.
