Guy's I was looking in archives for a thread on cooling units for my Dometic refer but could not find it. I need a new cooling unit for it does any one have a link to a parts place they would care to share. I have an older model rm7030 if that helps.

Not sure on your exact unit, but I bought a complete replacement on eBay for a friend.
It was about half the price of the regular sources.

I did a Google search for "rv refrigerator repair" and came up with a bunch, so I don't want to bother listing them. Of course, it would be best if someone had personal experience with one, but in the absence of that, checking out a couple should give you the rough price. I think shipping adds a good bit to cost, so proximity is an issue.
Have you got the 740 installed yet?

I got a rebuilt cooling unit for my Norcold refrigerator from RV Refrigeration Service, 14 Custom St., Calais, ME 04619. Phone 888-782-6665. The cost, including shipping both ways, was $427.22. You have to send them your cooling unit, after you do the exchange, so they can rebuild it fo the next exchange. I thought the service was very good and you get a 5 year warranty instead of 2 years with a new refrigerator for about 1/3 the cost of a new refrigerator The rebuilt cools just as good as the original unit before it failed so I am very happy with the exchange.

Don- How're doin? Maybe a good time to switch to another refer other then the absorption type. My Norcold 6.3 compressor type has been 100% reliable since installing 10 years ago. Just a thought. Or, big chunks of ice? Good Luck, TomC

I found what I was looking for at www.rvicebox.com They are in Covington, TN.
The cooling unit is 725. + shipping, A new refer is over $2,400.

...and I switched to a standard (but efficient) household fridge, and built a cheap dedicated pure sine inverter into it that gets turned on and off by the fridg's thermostat.
I couldn't be happier. 'Twas much cheaper than 12 volt compressor types, and being that it runs on the 12 volt house banks it's totally automatic... driving it's powered by the alternator, at home it's powered by the 12 volt battery charger, and in the boonies by the house batteries, gene set, and/or my solar panels, and no switching, no levelling, no nothing. Just stick food in and eat later!!!
Fridge was $600 new and inverter was another $200 from ebay...

Their is a place in Lynnwood WA that rebuilds the cooling units for about $500 with exchange. I bought a unit from them about three years ago and it has worked fine. I don't rember the name of the outfit but if you need me to I will research it for you and let you know.
