Title: Odd sized Lifeline AGM battery?
Post by: Mike in GA on February 17, 2012, 11:57:53 AM
I've seen plenty of Lifeline 8-D, 4-D, and Group 31 sized batteries in our buses, but has anyone had any experience with Lifeline's 6-volt 'tall boy', for lack of a better term? Here's a link:
http://www.lifelinebatteries.com/rvflyer.php?id=16 (http://www.lifelinebatteries.com/rvflyer.php?id=16)
I am specifically interested in four of the Lifeline GPL L-16T. This is a 15 inch tall, 119 lb, 6 volt, that I would use in series to replace my four tall Rolls-Surrette wet cells. The footprint for four of these Lifelines is the same as what I have now. The Rolls are almost 10 years old, and are not holding a charge overnight when boondocking with modest power draw.
Also, if anyone wants to recommend a Lifeline source in the southeast, it would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike in GA

Mike, I can get you the batteries at dealers cost I'll check the prices and freight the freight you pay for anyway just one of those hidden charges there would be no sales tax on this end.

Best thing for you is become a dealer it is not that hard to do if no body in the area has dealership LifeLine will do it on a 4 battery order or did for me and those are some high dollar batteries you are looking at, order some for your buddies the more you order the better the prices and shipping are from LifeLine

good luck

Clifford- the dealer thing is interesting.  What percentage of retail is the wholesale price?  Half off would be nice!

Lifeline wants you to sell at retail we don't do that a 500 dollar battery we can sell for 300 and make a few bucks you figure from there lol.

I am not really that involved in the battery store it makes a few bucks without me interfering  and we drop ship most batteries from the online store, we do sell a lot of marine batteries in the summer and to the Canadians in the winter when they come

good luck

I've backed myself into a corner with my truck conversion. The box is 9ft tall inside, and my "basement" is part of the inside of the box.  The sub floor is raised to make a 24" tall basement.  I'm also going to use 4-L16 Lifelines to make a 12v 800amp/hr battery bank.  I have 2-8D Lifelines in my bus now that are rated at 510amp/hr, and swear by them.  I haven't needed to do any maintenance on them in the 4 years I've had them.  The fact they don't out gas, don't need to be checked (they are sealed), is well worth the money for me.  I previously had wet 8D's that were a royal pain to keep up with.  Good Luck, TomC

Clifford:
Very nice of you to offer this!
Please give me a price for four of the Lifeline L-16T, and, separately, two of the more common 8-Ds. (Another bus nut may be hitchhiking on my order.)
Freight for either would go to zip 30066 - the Atlanta suburbs.
You can send this to me as a PM if you would prefer, if we are getting too close to breaking the rules here regarding selling stuff.
Thanks,
Mike

A little info on freight.  If you live within driving distance of a terminal,  you will save a ton of money if you pick them up there.  We are in the sticks and have found the shipping is half if we drive the 30 miles and pick stuff up.

Mike, I'm about to buy 4 6volt golf cart batteries for my MC9. If it would help keep the price down, I could pick up four from you in Atlanta. I would appreciate knowing the price when you get it from Clifford.

Bottomacher-
I would be glad to add your four batteries to the order if you like the price. I'll need to know exactly which AGM you are interested in - I know Lifeline has more than one 6 volt deep cycle.

Clifford-
Yes, by all means have Jeff include prices for the solar/residential type battery - the specs look the same as the RV ones. I wonder if any BusNuts have used this alternative, and what their results might be?
