How can it be a "vintage greyhound" if it was "originally built as an rv"?
just sayin'
-
Hard to know sometimes how much the seller actually knows about the bus. I have seen people refer to all buses of that era as Greyhounds as if that were the manufacturer. However, at this point, almost 50 years later, what it was used for on day one may not be that important. Certainly, at the price it could be bought for it would be at least a great parts bus for someone nearby.

It will have the legendary belt drive alternator! :o ;D
-
Is the legendary belt drive a bad thing???
-
Its only legendary because it doesnt wipe out the engine when the gears fail.
-
So someone steals the batteries and you just let it sit for years without running it? That tells me a lot about the maintenance program. How do you ever expect to sell something and get a decent price without taking care of it? Arrggh.....

The price seemed cheap enough . . . . that is if it will clean up without too much demolition.

Based on the only interior pic, it looks like a vintage Custom Coach Conversion (they were about the only game in town when this chassis was new.)
CCC built (and still does) the majority of their conversions on empty new shells.
Seller probably uses the phrase "vintage greyhound" to paint a mind's eye picture for the reader.
FWIW & HTH. . .

I did make email contact with the owner of this bus today and it is legit.. I am not interested in it but it was brought up on the MCI site that this bus sale might be a scam and since I an sorta close I thought I would inquire on it just to see if it was legit or not. I was told by the owner that the bus is sitting right off Hwy 321 in York SC which is roughly about an hour south of Charlotte NC and anyone is welcome to look at it.

I would think the gen-set is worth near asking price if it functions. Hard to beat scrap price for a professionally converted bus.
-
One more thing. Mercifully it still looks like a classic vintage bus outside with little to no hint it has been converted. Another reason to rank this bus a good find.

I will be going down 321 by York Saturday. If any one wants me to check on this bus just reply.
Will be going to the motorcycle enduro at pellion sc. just west of Columbia.
just follow the black smoke.
