Title: Saudi MCI 9 Barn Find
Post by: Ednj on March 27, 2013, 06:55:51 PM
 :o

I talked to this woman today whose husband bought this bus to convert.
But as the story goes he passed away and she has no use for it only to pay the rest of the loan.
This Saudi 9 can be had cheap (like 4 or 5 grand).
I have no interest in this just passing along a good deal if anyone is interested.
I threw the disconnect switch and the batteries still had juice.
The bus is a shell; it has a generator and holding tanks.
Low mile 8V71 /auto Trans, good rubber.
located in Delaware

Hmmmm, i thought that the only buses that are referred to as a Saudi bus was the MCI 5C.  Gonna have to dig out my book and check it out.  :)

Aramco had some MCI 9's I rode those from Saih Rawl to Zakum before I never knew those came back they were owned by Aramco not leased like the 5's and I thought the Prince kept those to hunt and haul all the wife's to go shopping they were a sleeper setup with a small galley sorta like a entertainer bus here.

I know of 8 of those first hand fwiw they were made by Custom Coach back east some where

Went back over today. The bus fired right up.
I took it for a short ride.
Runs great, no smoke at all. Shifts through all gears and don't wander.

Some of the early MC-9s used for prisoner transport came with the double "Saudi" roof, perhaps this is one of those.

Ed, if you get a chance, try to get the serial and unit numbers for the coach, we might be able to solve the mystery that way. . .

Is there any signs of a back side door for the women like ours had that now is probably covered up? Also might have the over-sized radiators if from over there. Just wondering.

That is the numbers besides the spell check
IM8 9CM8A X BP036258 .
That's a long number, my 9 has like 5 digits that all.
I guess that's right around when Mci changed that.

I'm pretty sure that that's a "1" (number 1) rather than an "I" (letter).  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number) .  Became effective in 1981.
