I am whipped from looking for a bus. No, I didn't say that I am giving up. Never that!
However, I have had many bus deals fall through for one reason or another.
The last one, the bus that was to be MY BUS and had everything that I wanted and could barely afford, fell through when the owner found out how much I wanted his bus so he reneged on a tacit gentleman's agreement and upped the price by several thousand dollars to where I could no longer afford it. That is why I love dogs and have trouble liking some people.
So, while I whine and moan, I am still looking for a bus such as a 4905 or close with the following:
At least two rooftop a/cs.
8V71 or 8V92 in great condition.
Automatic transmission.
Good tires.
Lots of baggage bay storage.
Naturally, I want it converted.
A diesel generator or gasoline that I could take out to exchange for a diesel genny that I have.
Cooking facilities.
Shower and/or bathtub.
Refrigerator.
Rear bedroom.
Power steering.
Just like the one that went up on price, I am willing to travel in order to buy the RIGHT one.
Thank you.

chessie4905, thanks for this link, I have been looking at buses for an hour now. Very interesting, some buses $$$ but thanks again for posting.

Hi Ros, what's your price range, what brand bus, what state of conversion, what distance are you willing to travel (remember there and back), the 4 whats ... give us what for, before we could help you. By the way, big difference between 8V71 and 8V92, most start out with a smaller engine, get bigger or repower, then some go for better milage. Good luck in your search, lvmci...
-
Thanks, Chessie.
I looked at that link but I will look some more.

Price range is under 20k.
I prefer 4905 but am open to any brand.
The state of conversion is open due to varying prices but close to complete.
I will go anywhere for the right deal.
Yes, I know there is a big difference in the 8V71 VS 8V92.
Nothing is set in stone.
Thanks.

Ros I have a 1977 4905a that was converted in 1995. It is available. I have it advertised on RVT and RV trader. I'm in Lakeland Fl. I know you want one for 20k. I have over 56k in mine and want a lot less. on RV trader it is listed as a 1977 GMC bus conversion. Lakeland Fl. On RVT it is listed as a 1977 GMC 4905a. Take a look. Thanks. David.

There is a 4104 that has been listed for a while so you can probably talk him down quite a bit. http://lakeland.craigslist.org/rvd/4749587035.html (http://lakeland.craigslist.org/rvd/4749587035.html)
This one probably hasn't been converted but cheap. http://ocala.craigslist.org/cto/4758064725.html (http://ocala.craigslist.org/cto/4758064725.html)

We are going to advertise our bus for sale at the arcadia rally and over the next several months see if anyone is interested. But it's an MCI and it isn't a pro conversion by any stretch.

1970 Gmc 4905< Walnut conversion!!!! Conversion done by Caylor supply !!!! 1.603.498.4234 text in ok Or johnjem84@yahoo.com,I can get in touch with one that is going up for sale!!
-
Wonder if he knows the 4905 is a 24 volt bus ? those starters are fun to find being a left handed 24v starter
-
I have done a 24 volt 4905 starter befor, easy!!
-
The 4905 has a sealed starter for both the 730 Allison and the manual transmission because of the wet clutch I have had terrible time finding those but Luke has them for a price then Fedx or UPS gets their share
-
I replaced the starter in my 4905. 12 volt 13 tooth starter. The hardest part was lifting it in there. About 65 pounds. Returned the old one for a core. The core was 55 bucks and ups was 60. I should have kept the old one for a boat anchor.

ros- This could potentially be a good deal, if it isn't rusted out. It has a low mileage rebuilt engine and is fully converted. I know you wanted an automatic; this has a 4 speed manual. The owner may back down on the price since it has been listed for two months.

Hi, Dave.
Thanks for the tip. I don't recall that I have been there but I just went and left a message on a 4905's owner's voicemail.

Hi, Ron and thanks for the info. However, I just learned that the 41xx series are 35 footers and I need a 40 footer.
Take care and again, thanks.

-
Hey Scott, my name is Robert. I was just wondering why you were deciding to sell?
-
We haven't put ours on the market yet, but we are planning on having kids. We need something set up better with bunks. I want a truck conversion. Our bus isn't converted professionally at all. Just a simple home conversion that isn't even complete yet but definitely livable.
