Title: Brake Lights
Post by: mmanning on April 01, 2019, 03:06:57 PM
I am flying down to drive home my (or almost mine) 78 model 05 Silver Eagle in a couple days, but I hear there is a problem with the brake lights.  I'm not really sure what the issue at this point, but thought it might be good to have a few parts on hand if possible.

One of the items suggested to me was a brake light switch, but we're not exactly sure the one we found is correct.  Can anyone confirm this is the right part for this bus? 38013 by TRAMEC SLOANP: https://www.finditparts.com/products/4758299/tramec-sloan-38013?srcid=CHL01SCL010-Npla-Dmdt-Gusa-Svbr-Mmuu-K4758299-L367&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_HjmHwjxJLUH80ghrbNYl6_s3hC83G1b1nC5k7GQ-vttWNqL46_XR8aAvvBEALw_wcB (https://www.finditparts.com/products/4758299/tramec-sloan-38013?srcid=CHL01SCL010-Npla-Dmdt-Gusa-Svbr-Mmuu-K4758299-L367&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4fHkBRDcARIsACV58_HjmHwjxJLUH80ghrbNYl6_s3hC83G1b1nC5k7GQ-vttWNqL46_XR8aAvvBEALw_wcB)

That one works ok but don't worry about parts that bus is setting where you have access to many truck parts store, btw that switch is over the rear axle on that bus

We are having hell of a time finding the switch, any more pointers?

Assuming you mean on the coach, and not in the store...

it'll be screwed into an airline, fitting, valve, but it has wires attached to it.

Air piping and wires don't usually mix, except for the switches, brake light and low air warning.

luvrbus will know better where someone may have made an easier modification to an Eagle, and added one elsewhere.

Blindly, I'd be checking the plumbing under the floor, under the driver, closely watching the brake pedal plumbing, and following that rearward.

Do you know the routing of the brake light wiring? Which junction box it may be in?

May not be any provision in the front to wire one...?

happy coaching!

I did mean the coach, sorry about that.  I’ve got good news though, it was a wiring issue at the rear; not an actuator.

We brought the bus the Stewart and Stevenson in El Paso and they figured it out in an hour.  These guys are awesome.
