Title: I need a few DD parts!
Post by: muddog16 on February 23, 2007, 06:13:24 PM
I'm looking for a twin oil cooler housing for a 8V92TA, I need the housing, front and rear plates for both transmission and engine coolers, both of my coolers pressure checked out good, one was new!  I also need the neck from the cooler to the fresh water pump.  One more item is the flex plate assembly  with bolts and all 5 flex plates to go from the 92 to a HT 754CR.  I have a SAE 1 bell housing.  Slowly its coming together!  I spent a week being stubborn I wasn't sure what all from the 8V71 fit the 8V92, I believe I'm on the right track again! ::)  Thanks!

Tom, I'm not sure if 6V92 and 8V92 will work I had to order part books (all 6 of them) from Powerline, there are so many parts for these DD's that its amazing. The oil cooler housing mounts to the drivers side of the block, it has two different coolers, one for the transmission and one for the engine, the actual coolers mount in this housing.  The oil filter assembly also mounts to this oil cooler  housing. When my part books come I may have access to the correct part numbers, that way I don't sound so stupid when asking questions!

I had a Allison guy tell me that basically all 700 series Allisons were the same but the numbers indicated what revisions had been incorporated with each specific transmission......until someone else says so I'm going with that bit of information!

If the 6/8V92 parts books are as bad as the Series 60 part book they won't do much good.

They seem to have several part numbers for each part and then you call the Detroit dealer who tells you they renumbered everything and he has to look up the part all over again.

Brian, Powerline has a site where you can enter the part number if you have it and it will tell you if its available or if a part number supercedes it, the book does help, it beats me saying to the parts guy, "its green, large and greasy or it goes between this thing and that watchamacallit! Here's a link to the parts search: http://www.powerlinecomponents.com/index.html  (http://www.powerlinecomponents.com/index.html) good luck........
