Title: Sanden AC Compressor on a Series 60 12.7
Post by: Jcparmley on April 27, 2020, 04:03:22 PM
Does anyone know if there is a bracket that would mount a Sanden AC compressor onto a Series 60 Engine?  I would like to eliminate the OTR HVAC on my bus and am looking at driver AC options.  Thanks

Check out this site: https://truckerac.com/conversionkits.html

If you are going to something that only will cool the driver, what are you going to do to partition the rear of the bus?

My GM 4108 has a single GM/Frigidaire compressor which runs the entire OTR a/c system. Would it be possible to convert your OTR a/c system to run with something like that instead of just doing a driver's a/c?

Another way you might explore is some of the new units being sold for truck sleeper cabs. They have units designed to run from DC power only which are supposed to be able to keep a large sleeper comfortable. If you're planning to partition the driver/co-pilot area from the rear of the bus, perhaps something like that would work for you. You could easily tuck one of those units up under the bus somewhere.

Check the brackets on any highway tractor sporting a 12.7  tons of them out there, and in the scrap yard.

Happy coaching!

Truck wrecking yards will have a bracket and probably the Sanden too.  I used the Sanden on my Eagle along with a Red Dot heat/AC unit and Red Dot remote mount condenser and it worked really great, cooled the front 1/3 of the bus by itself.

What Reddot equipment did you use?  Do you remember the model numbers?

Not off the top of my head.  It was a big back wall unit that fit in the center of my dash unit without problems.  If I remember correctly it was about 42,000 btu on heat and 32,000 on ac. Remote condenser was an awesome unit too. Check their website they have an extensive product line and great made in USA equipment.
