Hello,
I'm replacing my air compressor and noticed my alcohol canister is missing.
I don't plan on driving in cold weather but you never know.
Should I install the system?
Thanks
Rick

I would install an air dryer, if you don't have one already.

The only way to go,, it's a plus, cold weather or not :^ >>>Dan

10-4. We recently put a dryer in after 35 years of bus ownership & then wondered why it took so long! It didn't just dry the air up but also cleaned it up to. Compressor oil doesn't make it past the dryer.

dryers dont like excessive oil. itll contiminate the dessicant. "
Consider a quality rebuilt compressor. get a good rebuilt one. the cheap rebuilds dont take long to start spitting oil again.

I'm in the same boat with a shattered alcohol reservoir. Any recommendations on what kind of dryer to use? As far as oil getting in some of what I've been reading up on says you can use a separate filter to remove oil before it gets to the air dryer.
Any reason to not just repair the alcohol evaporator?

Bendix does not recommend using the Alcohol system anylonger they haven't for many years it make the rubber seals and diaphragms in the components' in the system degenerate over time .The knock off (aftermarket) AD-9 Bendix dryers can be purchased for around $150.00 ($104.00 less the brackets on Amazon) and they are not bad for a aftermarket part and easy to install keep you tanks drained and don't worry about a inline filter

Mine is a Haldex Pure Are Plus,, it's 23 years old and works with out fuss.. I have installed a new service kit twice and it just keeps on doing it's thing,, my automatic "spitters" never seem to drain any moisture.>>>>Dan

on the Bendix website, they dont generally recommend alcohol evaporators, as they accelerate breakdown of the rubber components.
