This was a new one for me.
Over the last few trips the bus had been spewing more and more oil.
The last trip I used a gallon of oil over 400 miles, most of it ending up on the Toad (that car will never rust)
Could not exactly figure where it was coming from, oil was everywhere.
I pressure washed the engine and started it up with all the hatches and doors open.
I could see a small drip from the 50DN mount, not close to enough to account for the massive amount spewing.
It was not until I kicked it up to high Idle that I realized what was happening.
Apparently a piece of road debris (looks like maybe a piece of 2x4) kicked up and dented the upper part of the oil filter in such a way that it distorted the filter enough that when the oil pressure got up off Idle it would squirt out in a stream from the seal bouncing off the block almost a foot from the filter and then going everywhere, impossible to figure out until the engine was cleaned and running at high idle.
Oil pressure was not affected.
Fortunately the cure was an early oil and filter change.

I sure wish that my 19 oil leaks were that easy to fix. And you are correct, I've noted many times that my toad will never rust. Patrick.
