Title: Looking for Bus Mechanic
Post by: Bryan on June 08, 2023, 02:24:07 PM
Hey guys!
I live in NorthEast Georgia... anyone know any good bus mechanics in the area? This is for my 96 Prevost. Thank you in advance!

I'm surprised Ted hasn't responded to this. He knows a guy North of Chattanooga that ONLY works on Prevosts.
Ted calls it "Camp Benjamin", but seems very pleased with the quality of service he gets for those Benjamins!
@Tedsoldbus are you listening?(or reading this)

Thanks for the heads up Walter!
I thought it was Ted sleeping on the job! (even though I know he's not sleeping, as he's over on BGM right now talking about eating cinnamon rolls in the rain!) LOL!

I talked on the phone with Bryan two years ago when he was looking. Marty found both of our buses for us and we had fun talking about bus things. I told him about Jeff at East Tennessee Luxury Coach and that all he does is Prevost, but I think Bryan was looking for someone closer.
So you see guys, I already took care of it and expect Bryan still considers that too far. There are a few guys around Ashville but they can be hard to get into. I expect Bryan is trying again to see who knows a guy, perhaps closer than Jeff or Gene. That is why I sat here, (eating my cinnamon roll lol), hoping one of you knew something I don't. I still lurk here...
Good luck Bryan. Guessing the guy Marty used to send us to near you is still swamped?
90 percent of what Jeff works on has series 60. He also has fabrication, remodel guys, and guys very good with electronics. Jeff has a lift and I have seen them change a whole transmission in 1/2 a day (Travis Tritts bus). They know their stuff.  If you draw a blank, might give him a shot. Also Marty has moved to Nashville but still big time in the bus business. He still knows guys all over that service buses. But I bet you already tried him again....
Best regards,
Ted

Who do you Know in Asheville ?? I was using Davids Coach out of Conley Springs but he retired on me . Do you know of a shop that is not one of the chain outfits ? I have not had any experience with Shealy but have with all the others and have not had a good  outcome with  any of them! the others .I don't now if Lyda wrecker still does machinal work or not but would not be afraid of him . He certainly has the wrecker for any occasion.

Sometime with the over engineered Prevost it better to bite the bullet and take it to a Prevost service center, I have had to swallow my pride and take mine to Prevost for the frignn door closer shops or myself could never figure it out Took longer to do the paper work than it took a technician to fix the problem

I don't know the Ashville guys. I was given 3 to call. One did not call back after I left 3 voicemails. The other two were booked solid for months. I called ETLC and they said "Come on over". Been there since. I have a couple of friends that go there and one of them dubbed it "Camp Benjamin", because you better bring a fistfull of them when you go there. But top drawer work, he usually has the parts, has a shop nearby that fabricates hoses or other things you need that not out of the box stuff. He has about 35 50 amp plugs ins. Lets you stay on site overnight if you want. Jeff's two sons work there. One answers the phones, does scheduling and does a few repairs now and then. Other son is a very sharp parts guy. Knows who to call. Other guys have been there as long as I have gone there (three years) and they are all good at what they do.  I'm happy with it.
I have told 3 Prevost guys about it that were looking. Easy to get to just off I 75 between Chat and Knoxville. Closer to Knoxville by a bunch. He has a website. None of them chose to go there?
You tell a horse where water is.....
No, that's not how it goes....???
Anyway, good crew if anyone is looking.
