The raping of Greyhound by the Dial Corporation and why some passengers had to wait up to 18 hours for a bus. But Greyhound Canada thrived but would only connect with Trailways buses and they maintained their buses better than the ones in the U.S. after a while.
This also discusses the TNMO coaches, Texas, New Mexico, & Oklahoma, and also when they started putting 8-cylinder motors in them.
GM 4104, 4106 - The Queen of the Fleet, and 4107 buses.
Then MC-5A, the MC-6 Supercruiser - The first 102” wide MCI bus, and the MC-7 Greyhound Turbine Bus

They suffered same fate as rail passenger service, trolley service. Mostly used by students and low income sector anymore. People want travel flexibility, which they can't provide. Plus, listed routes can't be abandoned without ICC or whatever it's called approval, which is difficult. Remember when Govt took over national rail service from bankrupt railroads? They had no problem eliminating routes. I laugh when clueless people point to successful European or Japanese rail systems. Lots of people and mostly short distances and limited super highways like here.

Cheese. It is more than just buses or rail routes. Where this is sucessful these are part of a network that moves people beyond the bus and rail stations. Plus destinations are much shorter than the USA. Trolleys and other city rail systems were put to death by the oil industry and people wanted to go where and when they wanted.

Our government should have never let Dial own both MCI and Eagle, they raped Eagle when the Greyhound drivers were on strike and Eagle never could over come it
