Title: Front Shocks for MCI 102D3
Post by: Sebulba on August 11, 2023, 12:32:40 PM
Hello All,

Well today we drove from Sulphur Springs, TX to Enid, OK all went pretty well, but about half way through the trip we noticed some terrible thunking in the front end.  I pulled into a parking lot and examined the situation and it seems that the rubber bushings on top of both shocks have been obliterated.  Yes, the road were quite bumpy.

Does anyone know the number etc to order these shocks?  I can't see anything on them.

Also, and this is a longshot, can the bushing on the top just be replaced some how, just to get on the road again?

Thanks

Seb

Sorry to hear about the proble . Being a good busnut here to help with some encouragement, especially you broke down on Friday afternoon. Puyt on your McGyver hat and make some sort of rubber bushing to get you to the next stop on Monday. If a true bushing, I'd think some rubber material could be either rolled around as in a sheet material or a block fabricated from some rubber material, even a old tire piece.

And a call to a local NAPA might even have a replacement that is available over the weekend. Good luck!

Seb -

The above Koni number crosses over to a Gabriel 85729, $92.15 on Amazon, also on eBay for similar prices.

FWIW & HTH. . .  ;)

Thanks for the encouragement.  We needed the rest and both got colds, so as long as the shocks U ordered are here on Tuesday like Summit Racing said we'll be fine.  Thought about doing some makeshift bushings, but this will be better

So I got shocks coming.  What are the torque specs for these, or where can I find them.

Thanks

Just tighten the nuts no need to worry about torque spec on a shock

Hello all,

The shocks got here today about 10:30 and we were done putting them on about 2:30.  All went pretty well considering that I cross threaded the the very fist one I did, so had to spend some time filing down the buggered threads and was much more careful from then on.  Took a little longer to do that maybe is ideal since we did it without removing the tires, so a fair amount of scooting under the bus and such.  Yes I cribbed with timbers for safety.

Thanks so much for your help.

Went looking at the other shocks and we need to replace the rears also.  Does anyone know what the numbers are for those and are they all the same?  Will start a new thread for this question.
