Title: #Buslife Can Be #ReaLife
Post by: sandra@BCM on December 21, 2023, 11:33:02 AM
Are you doubtful about the #BusLife trend and think it's just a social media craze?

Do you think that living on the road and traveling wherever your heart desires is just a myth?

Well, we are here to prove you wrong. We have published many stories over the years that show real people doing it.

These people pursued their dreams and you can read about how they did it in our FREE articles section linked below.

I have been reading this board for many many years. I enjoy the board and the articles in the magazine. Even though I have been an uncurable life long bus nut and don't want a cure, living full time in a bus is not for me. I don't have a fat money clip, I don't have very good mechanical skills for when things could go wrong in the middle of nowhere. Plus my patience level is that of someone who the smallest thing can subject me to blind rages depending on circumstances. I respect and admire what people have done and continue to do with their buses. But for me, I'll either fly, drive my car, or take a charter bus trip and sleep in a hotel instead.

My bus gives me hidden benefits. To start out, it is my insurance policy. Should the bottom drop out I still have rather nice living quarters no matter what so that adds a comfort level which otherwise would not be there. Next, it subtly influences my wife's need to be nice to me simply because it represents an option other than the house which is undeniably her territory. And I've noticed these differences at times when I've not had an RV standing by. So even if I were to never drive the bus off the property it has provided me with a benefit that makes it worth having. It can also double as guest quarters if needed or desired, which does occasionally come in handy.

I'm still a bit of work away from having it really completely usable in any of these ways but slowly getting there. Cold weather always slows me down. But perhaps this summer I'll be able to take it on the road.

Lol at least you can own the bus, all I do is pay 1000's of dollars a year leasing our home and other real estate we own ? from some government agency really pisses me off this time of year too >:( when I starting writing the checks. You could park the bus with a bad engine, no plates or insurance and still have a home if you had a place to park

Not much different even if you"own" real estate. You don't pay the property taxes, they take it all back.

I do have an acre of unimproved land on a federal highway in WV so there's that anyway. Trying to get it shifted to an agricultural tax bracket.
