If you are planning to travel in 2024, please share with the forum where you plan to visit and the type of vehicle you will be traveling in.

What are you most excited to see?

Happy New Year, Bus Nuts!

Oh we just love this question and maybe the last question to answer this year!  :)
We're going to do our fourth transcontinental trip from Florida to Alaska as we own a small piece of the Last Frontier up there. The big difference about this trip is we're not running our comfortable 4104 up there. This time we're joining the schoolie crowd & running a 2002 GMC 72 passenger Bluebird school bus. Its powered by a 7.2L 3126 Caterpillar turbo diesel pulling a 10K lb. trailer. The bus & trailer are set up to haul construction materials and home furnishings. We are building an addition on our tiny 160 sq. ft. shelter to increase it to 700 sq.ft. SFR. We are most excited to see if our 73 YO body can keep up with the mind's brainstorming!  :o
Happy New year to ALL our fellow busnuts!

That sounds like plan Dan,when we moved from Idaho to Scottdale, Sonja was taking care of the move and didn't like the prices, so she bought her a bus ( we still have) and a used Uhaul truck ,that one didn't work as she planned it lost a engine on the move but the bus and the trailer did ok gas was cheap then and the 534 Ford engine loved the stuff

I made it from the Midwest to Arizona , Quartzite. I’ll stay in the south west over the winter. I may venture into California a bit. In the summer I’ll either go back to the Midwest to get some metal work done by some Amish buddies, or I’ll venture up to Wyoming, Montana.

I’m driving a 1964 MC5 “Dreadnought “. You can’t really miss it. It’s stainless but the painted portions are sprayed gun metal grey - that changes into metal black near the near and the borders are bright red. There’s a jaguar leaper painted to the side where the greyhound once was ;-)

The BCM Eagle will be leaving SoCal next Sunday and heading to a friend's house in Arizona to replace a front structural member of my Eagle that has failed due to rust (see images below), and to replace a bulkhead air fitting that goes between the front under compartment (where the spare tire compartment was) to the second baggage compartment that has cracked and is leaking. I lose all air in about 2-3 hours after shutting down.  I will adjust my brakes and perform any other maintenance as I see fit.  This is called "Preventative Maintenance" for those unfamiliar with that term.  ;D

After that, I will be heading to Quartzsite to attend the Bus Conversions Road Travelers Rally and then to the Bus Conversion International Quartzsite rally to meet up with friends.  The first rally will be held at Crawfords RV Park and the second one at Rice Ranch North.

Then I will be joining up with six other RVer friends and heading to Yuma to prepare for a trip down to Baja for a two-month excursion.  Half of us plan to go all the way to Cabo, stopping in several beachside RV parks along the way, touring the area, eating a lot of seafood and drinking Margaritas daily, before heading back north so I can make it to the SoCal Rally in April in San Dimas, CA. The other half of the group, unfortunately, have to get back to the U.S. a bit earlier for previous obligations.

At this point my summer is open, but I may go back to Texas to work in the Oil Fields to build up my bank account so I can keep BCM going another year.

Hopefully, in the fall, I can get back to NH to see kin folks as it has been four years since I have been back "home".

No Quartzsite for us this year.
Heading to Lufkin Tx  to build a cowboy church for
Angelina County Fellowship with my volunteer builder group.  https://www.volunteerchristianbuilders.com

Then to Taos in Feb to ski.  Got down to -8F last year.  The bus did fine.  I have good heat in the mechanical bay.
Back to Harper TX to build a gym at Stillwater Camp for youth.
Haven't decided about summer yet.

We just got on the road, first stop lost wages to visit friends. On to Quartzsite for a couple Bus Conversion rallies. Then on to Aquil for another rally, next to San Cruz fairgrounds for the start of the Escapees Ch 8 Rally to Guaymas Mexico. Back for the So Cal Rally then plans  going North into Canada.

Our next planned Bus trip in our 1989 MCI 96A3 will have two destinations.

The first is to the St Petersburg Astronomy Clubs Annual Star Party, 2/7 thru 2/11 where we go to a dark site at the Withlacoochee Park in Dade city and turn our eye’s to the skies.

This will give us the opportunity to use our newly acquired 12.5 inch Dobsonian Telescope.

There will be a lot of astronomers with much more knowledge of the sky’s than me, they also have some great classes and guest speakers. https://www.stpeteastronomyclub.org/OBS/ (https://www.stpeteastronomyclub.org/OBS/)

After the Star party we will move just a few miles north to the second destination 2/16 thru 2/25 In Melrose FL, The Skoolie Swarm.

We have been attending this event for several years, although it is primarily Skoolie conversions, Buses of any type are welcome and encouraged to come, last year there were close to 300 Buses of all types.

There will activities and classes of all types as well as projects to upgrade and repair many of the buses, Camp fires, pot luck dinners, one year there was even a wedding.

We have made lifelong friends that we look forward to seeing every year, definitely a must attend for us every year. https://skoolieswarm.com/ (https://skoolieswarm.com/)
