National Trailways Bus System was incorporated
Continental Trailways was born
The GM-4104 with air ride suspension was born around 1954 changing the bus industry
American Bus Lines was born and their buses ran coast-to-coast
The GM-4501 deck-and-a-half bus, the Scenicruiser came out next changing the bus industry
Brill then copied GM to create their own deck-and-a-half bus
Flxible then came out with a 35’ deck-and-a-half bus, but it lacked large baggage bays
In 1956, the 01 Eagle was born with a Mann diesel engine with the 6-speed ZF transmission
See Eagle serial number 001, the first Eagle bus rolled out
The first Eagles came with a Sauna in the back of the bus
5-Star Eagle service began in 1956 with Flight Attendants and a mini-galley in the rear of the bus
The 60 foot-long articulated Golden Eagle was born. A total of five were built.
One of the earlier articulated buses had the back trailer of the bus converted into a horse trailer. One was turned into an entertainer coach where the back portion of the bus turned into an equipment trailer.
In 1958 the first Silver Eagles appeared and had a destination sign in the front
