Title: How would you position your bed in your next Conversion?
Post by: Gary Hatt - Publisher BCM on June 02, 2024, 07:50:06 AM
If you were to convert another bus, how would you position the bed?

Would you position it with the head of the bed at the rear of the bus, or would you position it along the side of the bus, and why?

And what size bed(s) and how many beds would you have?

If you had slides, would may make a difference.

Lots of passenger busses come with lights over toilet or at toilet door or both. When it comes time to put cabinets or headboard
above or around bed, you have builtin wiring and bulb for reading over the bed. So head towards back...

I put the head to the back just for symmetry. His-n-her wardrobes as you come into the BR then same way around each side. Center isle. With a side isle maybe put it to the side.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

#1 on my project list is to reorient the bed. Bus is MC8, 96" wide, bed at back. It faces sideways and there is too little room to get around the end. Maybe a shorter bed would work, we are not tall.

There is a massive storage closet along the back wall and if reposted front-back, the bed can use some of that space, providing more free space along the end and the sides.

head at back 14inches around all sides, the other way there is no room at back or end. It is already tough for two old people to make the bed now. :^ :^

With out slide outs we would never even consider anything other than a North South configuration. To each their own however. ;)

Do you always park your bus facing North?  :o

The Fireplace should always towards the bed, never away Jack.

I like the bed, in the back, headboard straight against the rear wall - in the middle left-to-right, facing up the main isle. So if I want, I can see from the back to the front windshield.  I like that more spacious view.  You can walk around the bed on either side.  If I want privacy from the rest of the bus I close the doors.

The Vantare MCI DL345 we purchased (IIRC 1994 model) had the bed almost diagonal in the back.  With a TV that popped out (motoroized) at the foot of the bed, at the same diagonal type angle.  I never could get used to that.  It's been replaced.

Take care all, Phil
