Title: DDEC and ATEC
Post by: homermandy on July 06, 2006, 04:00:46 PM
I have a DDECII and ATEC. 6V92TA and Allison HT746.  On the engine ECM, there are 3 small top connectors and 2 large bottom connectors.  I need to know what the 3 top connectors are for.  And their location with reference to looking straight at the box.  For instance, top left, middle, right, lower left, lower right.  Specifically the top right since it had a broken locking clip and I wasn't happy with the connection.  I taped the connector to the plug to hold it firmly.  The reason I ask is because I am trying to track down an erratic DO NOT SHIFT light on the transmission.  No codes are registered for the trans. Thanks

The 3 small DDEC conectors are:

Left small oval conectors are for right bank injectors
middle small oval connector is the power connectors (Battery positive A/B & E/F pins and grounds C/D pins)
right small oval conectors are for left bank injectors

the 2 retangular connectors are mostly sensors inputs/outputs

Thanks Pete. Since I have removed the ATEC plug on the trans and cleaned it(had gobs of grease and dirt on the connector)(not so much in the connector, but outside), I have not had a DO NOT SHIFT LIGHT incident.  I haven't driven it a lot though. I am hoping that was the problem.:)

Sounds like you've found your problem, but I had a similar "do not shift" light on rare occasions and it was one of the DDEC fuses that was not tight in the fuse holder.
DDEC and ATEC issues will set the "do not shift" light.
If you don't have any codes in the trans, check the DDEC for codes.  Did the CEL come on?
Best, JR

No, the CEL did not come on, nor did the Check Transmission light.  Codes flashed from the DDEC most likely were old codes when they did the rebuild such as Low Coolant since I believe this would shut the engine down and it did not.  I'll double check the fuses too. Thanks
