We started with intending to put new carpet in the living room. as we tore out the old carpet, we noticed spongy wall below and beside the front window passenger side and the door. also under the driver's side windows all the way back to the stove area. we removed the front 4x8 5/8 plywood and found original aisle, but rotten wood and wet underneath.
i'd like to TALK, 440 225 8926 not email or post with, to an Eagle expert who really did built his bus. We have a problem that we need to fix and i need a bunch of expert advice quick. We now live in our bus and work out of our bus. Our next job starts 7/12. i'd like to start putting the wall back together, but i'd like not to have to do all this again next year.
If you have an Eagle and had sidewall leaks, i'm looking for pointers on where you found them, and how you sealed them, both inside and outside. also, some of the actual steel crossmembers have some rust (surprise, surprise, surprise), but it doesn't seem serious. i can't poke a finger through. how do i keep it from getting worse?
at least my wife is smiling and we're working on this together. and she's talking pictures.

I can't help because I purchased my Eagle already modified but you can ask also this in the Eagles forum at http://www.eaglesinternational.net/forum/ there are many experienced Eagle busnuts but I think that any experienced busnut can help you and also here are a lot.

TOM, best advice I can give you is to buy yourself a Delmhorst Moisture Detector or equal and be done with it.I would let you borrow mine , no need for it right now in the desert but I use it when I go to Houston.Only one question for you then I'll start to work on your problem and call you is your Eagle 15 smooth sided or classic good luck

dreamscape, i'll call you later since i have your number. hopefully, you have verizon and you won't lose any min.
luvrbus, its a smooth side. we've got the rubber molding right below the windows and at floor level. driver's side is rotten all below the window and part way up the wall behind driver seat. pass side is rotten all down by the door to the window, but only back to the middle of the 2nd window. that molding is definitely suspect.
we pulled up the floor and the plywood over the front wheel wells looked original, but all rotten and wet. underneath were 2 alum "pans" between the frame deep enough to hold 2" sheathing i guess for sound insulation. small wet areas in all 4 of those "pans". we've been sitting here for almost a week, slight rain a couple times. and the last time i drove it was dry.
it could be the window installs, but they did the rear windows fine, no leaks. just the living room >:( >:(
i'm just tryin to figure how to put it back together and stop the water.

thank goodness walls and carpet aren't required for good food. and i think we got rid of the blackish dirt on the drywall before supper. now all we need is rain to show where the leak is. bare walls, no insulation, and wouldn't you know, 50 deg tonight.

Like you said, get the hose out and watch for water. Sounds like a good place to start, at least you can turn off the hose!
Good talking with you, I'm sure you will find it so you can put it all back together and install your new carpet.

White, The wet above your wheel wells could be coming up through leaks in the pans. It then gets in the insulation and then soaks the plywood. Make sure there are no leaks in the pans. When driving the water gets thrown around very hard and will find holes. It will also travel futher than that section.

The pans that rusty is referring to are there to hold the insulation between the steel tubing.

I would check the windows first. The first place to leak on an eagle. Most have rust under some windows as water collects there. It then runs down the wall soaking the insulation. The pans are not usually a big leak area. They are below floor level also. My 05 had some leaky windows when I stripped it. The was rust and moisture at each leak.

the pans had water, not much, but enough to easily see it on the insulation, and the treated black plywood above them was easily removed by grabbing a handful to throw in the bucket. they are obviously loose, but the last rain we drove in was first of June.
windows have no insulation around them, or caulking, just on the outside, and loose. also, i think a couple upper running lights are leaking.
we have some pics we'll post later. thanks to all for your posts and the couple phone conversations i had.
