Title: wireing mess need sugestions
Post by: juliamikeg on December 30, 2010, 05:24:35 PM
I romoved the rear salon to put in the new bedroom (this is a ex entertainer bus ) and found a mess with the wireing i would like to move the breaker box to the last bay on the passenger side if this is a good location for one? the genny is in the door on the side of engine compartment . the 50 amp connects runs from there inside to the pannel. is there a way to access the old factory heat ducts from the bay area? i was thinking i could run the wires back through them and down into the bay. any sugestions would be great. thanks mike

Sounds like it's a total rebuild to me. would be nice if it is  run in plastic conduit. protects wires and easy to add or replace damaged wires In the 98 prevost XLE I'm redoing all elect will be run overhead along ceiling wall area covered by trim.1 inch with T everywhere a drop is needed on delivery side of breaker box. keep it simple and make sure to watch for ruff or sharp edges and turns.

I have just a few switches to finish in my 4106.  I have just finished installing over 200 feet of EMT conduit.  I have a 50 amp 220 breaker box.  Most of my conduit is run in the curve of the roof.  My breaker box is in an overhead cabinet directly behind the driver's seat.  A 3/4" pipe runs down to the first bay, where I will have the generator and it connects to a 35' cord for connection to the outlet on the garage.

Has the Eagle got a raised roof? A you just redoing rear salon area? Building back as a unit for just a few people or as a Entertainer? Just curious; the outside pictures look awesome.   Bob

Your going to be tight on space with 7. Might consider combo shower toilet area.I know not idea but could save 6 to 8 sq ft space. They work and once you get over idea aren't a bad deal:we had one in a past boat and really wasn't that bad. A dressing table with sink outside that area:corner of bedroom maybe. hope all the children are not girls/that would require a second bus for dressing room.Just some possible ideas.  Maybe post add a bath and give approx area and see what ideas you get.  Bob

Mike :: I put my box in a closet in the back room, ran the wiring Thur the floor attached them to the bottom of the flooring with staples then to the areas needed back thru the floor to plugs or where needed. You can get Shielded flex wiring at Lowes or any home improvement store. the shielding will protect the wire even when you go thru the walls between bays. It will cost a little more but you never have to worry about it again. Hope that helps.  BATH :::if moma don't like it dont do it  papa T

I have looked under the skin of a lot of entertainers, and for that reason would not consider one unless it was going to be a gut job.  They can be very poorly done, though I have also seen some good ones.  Often you can't tell until you dig down a bit.

I would suggest you just start over, poor workmanship is evident in the pics you posted.

I'm sure Sean will chime in here, but I think it is now a code violation to put a breaker panel in a clothes closet.  It makes sense because if a breaker started arcing, there would be lots of flammable material in a small space and a fire might go undetected for a while.
