Title: painting copper airlines
Post by: rayshound on September 10, 2006, 08:09:38 PM
Just wondering, I had removed my floor some time back. I removed trunk covers in cargo bay. I had removed freon & water lines and unecessary air lines for rear bath etc. I used marine clean and a steam cleaner to clean below the floor. All clean now but the remaining needed air lines are still green with corrosion. Would it hurt if I sand down, use 2k primer & paint? I don't know if painting will cause any copper problems. Thanks Ray

The green is a natural oxidation process and develops into a stabilized state, your'e copper is very happy this way. Don't mess around with happy copper.  You can paint it, but really the natural oxidation protection is better, just paint it if you need the pipe to match something.
