Title: "SEBN" April in the Carolina's Bus rally starts Tomorrow,
Post by: Gary LaBombard on April 24, 2011, 07:51:52 AM
Happy Easter Everyone,
I just wanted to make the last post concerning the SEBN rally at Palmetto Cove, Cleveland, SC which officially starts tomorrow & anyone can arrive and start tomorrow and last until May 1, 2011.

Linda & I the host, are here now and ready for any arrivals that wish to start even today, the weather is fine today, going to be 85 deg. I believe and nice and sunny.  The Creek behind the campground is at full strength for those Kayak enthuasist because of the rain we had last week.

The cost is $22 per night for campground cost with full hook ups, if you did not make up your mind to attend this rally until today and did not have time to send in your rally fee to attend please load up and come on anyhow.  We will have someone here to gladly accept your rally fee when you arrive.

Those that like to shop for unusual items some of antique value I am sure don't forget there is the big Farmers Flea Market that is open on only Wednesdays from day light to noon.  This is big and bring comfortable shoes, propably skates to use so you can see it all before it closes at the end of the day.

Bring your items you wish to sell in front of your coach for our week long busnut flea market, this can be any item you wish to sell which can be any item you wish.  Please mark the prices of items in case you are away shopping at someone else rig for those treasures you need or want.

Full details of our rally is on the SEBN website,, www.southeastbusnuts.org (http://www.southeastbusnuts.org) so I do not make this my usual boring length to read now.

Hope to see you all, everyone is absolutely welcome.
Garylee

Well, it is 2:45 PM and I'll be darned if we do not have 4 coaches here already not counting our little class "C". (Conrad's, Siems & Siems, Endsley's).  Glad they come early, stay 7 days, pay for only 6 as well.

Ask the park hosts as you are checking in, there might be a place closer than you think.  ;)

Chart1,
As Kyle has mentioned I believe the park will allow you to wash your bus as the park is not full or anything and they are more than willing to allow things most parks would not.  Asking first for permission will sweeten the pot.  You will enjoy it here, today is to be about 87 deg. and the sun is now rising.  Look forward to meeting you so Come on down.

My only two questions are:
A.  Will 'Uncle Ned' show up?
B   If he does, will he bring an ancient British cycle with him?

Changed my mind about some eagle owners.  Had to be some of the nice'st people at ocean lakes around to put up with the only good bus around.LOL LOL.

I finally figured out why they rust. All I saw was missing the protective coating on their engines and under carriage.

Anita, John and Greg are planning on coming up on Saturday afternoon.   We might run down to Punkintown...or OOlenor (sp ?) Friday night.

See ya'll Thursday afternoon.  Gotta wait for T to get home.

Ned, are you gonna be at Palmetto on Thursday?

Cheerios!  JR

Just out of idle curiosity ... How many coaches showed up ... in the final tally there were how many?

On the other string they mention something about "100" is that right?  That seems like a LOT of buses to me, but then again, it could happen I suppose.

Thanks,

BCO

BCO... I was there on Thursday for a couple hours.. I think alot of people were expected to arrive on Friday.. But anyways, I didn't count them but I would guess between 25 to 30 were aready there around noon on Thursday.. I did pass two more buses headed in on my way out. I'm sure that someone who is there will chime in with the actual Rally Count.

BK not a chance in hell! I've been there once and although a nice place, couldn't see wasting 4 buck plus fuel on a weekend trip. Had I plans to stay out longer, maybe stop by for a quick visit but only reason to go last year was to ride the hills on the bike.
With the way fuel is right now, we have decided to do more local runs closer to home. That also means less west and tear on the bus and less missed income.

There were over 100 people at the meals & it seemed like I was the only one there who wasn't in a motor home or bus.

It seemed like this was the largest turnout yet for a bus rally at Palmetto Cove.

As usual, the food & people there were GREAT!

I would like to thank Leroy Ashe, Tom Hammrick and Ed Brenner for their help Saturday. 7 hours (11:30 pm) after we arrived at PC on Thursday our rear tag tire blew out the inside sidewall waking a bunch of folks at the campground. Tom and I looked that night to see what had happened but didn't find the problem until Friday. After talking to several people they put me in touch with Leroy. We took a short ride to his shop to see if he had a tire and sure enough sitting there on a trailer was the CORRECT tire and rim. We got every thing together and had it changed out first thing Saturday morning. Again thanks to you guys for your help!!!!
We would also like to thank the SEBN family at PC for such a warm welcome to our first SEBN rally. We enjoyed meeting new friends and seeing old ones. Gary, you did a great job! Your efforts will be hard to beat.

BCO,
In talking to the club sec. Saturday she said 45-48 coaches.

It sounds like something worth attending, we are thinking about taking a look at it next year (just waiting for diesel to hit the magic $7 per gallon mark to make it all worthwhile) and maybe attending.

Thanks for the info.

There is nothing like hearing a tire blow at 11:30 pm!  Glad nothing and no one got hurt.

There were 40 or so busses there and there was good variety.  Many makes and models were represented.

Probably the best rally yet at the cove. Got to put a few more names and faces together and see old friends.

Gary and Linda did a great job along with all those that pitched in.

Even Elvis showed up and put on a great show!!  :o

Just got back into Peoria illinois. It was a long drive but I made good time only stopped once in 800 miles. But I will say it was worth it, got to meet a lot of great busnuts. It was great to be able to see others buses. So many different designs. Had a great time!

I second the BIG thanks to Linda and Gary LaBombard for putting on an excellent rally! As Jack said, about 50 coaches, not counting a few folks like Uncle Ned and  EricSB who stopped by for day to see old friends and show the flag.
One tremendous bit of coincidence and good fortune surrounds the climactic Saturday evening dinner and Elvis Tribute show. Due to Gary's helping our new friend The Jumpsuit Man through his ordeal of getting his new bus back to Charlotte (one of the longest threads in this board's history), Marc Woodward agreed to do his Tribute Show for the SEBN rally. While this was going on, unbeknownst to most, another new bus nut, Corey Hart (a.k.a. Chart1) was wending his way from Peoria, Ill. to the SC rally. He happens to be in the business of producing large concerts and festivals, and in his trailer was some very sophisticated stage equipment, including lasers, floods, smoke machines, etc.
When Gary and Corey got to talking, Corey offered to help dress up the stagecraft for The Jumpsuit Man, and all I can say is, it was stunning. Lights and magic!
The Southeast Bus Nuts thank them both for a wonderful evening, and can recommend Marc Woodward unconditionally for other rallies. A genuine nice guy, with a ton of talent. And thanks, Corey, for loaning us your knowledge and equipment.

Thanks for the kind words Mike.  I agree, Cory's professional light show was amazing!  Dee and I had a great time and hate to leave.  Unfortunately we only got here Saturday since we had another show at a Good Sam Rally in Charlotte on Friday night.

We really appreciate the warm reception we received from everybody.  It was so nice to put faces to a lot of the names I have become familiar with here on the board.  What a high caliber of people that were there at the rally.  It was really an honor to get to know as many of you as we could.  And of course, special accolades to Gary and Linda for hosting.

We look to seeing everybody again very soon!

Let me add my thanks to Gary and Linda, and a lot of others including the crew at Palmetto Cove, whose names  would fill this page, for a job well done!    Had a big turnout in spite of fuel prices.
The food was great and the "Elvis" show was really entertaining!   Cool light show!   Hope Carol didn't scare Elvis too badly!  That was a hoot!  I almost fell out of my chair when she starting screaming!   :o ;D
Gotta give extra thanks to Carol and Dave Lang too for the Saturday sausages!   Love those things!  Hope to see ya'll at the Wade rally!  ::)
T and I enjoyed the whole weekend!  Great to see all the familiar folk and meet some new busnuts!
The only problem with the trip was that my dryer ejector now has the "fizzies"...worked perfectly until the first cycle of the trip...that'll pucker you up!  It worked OK thruout the trip...just sounded funny.   Oh well, got back without any other issues and have  two weeks to rebuild the dryer.  Gotta get ready for Gene's Wade KOA rally!    :D
Kyle, you planning on a September "Palmetto?"

BTW, more extra thanks to Gary L for bringing us heat Friday night!  Those things were perfect!   :)

Cheers, JR and Terri

Well, with all these kind words of thanks to us and everyone for us for helping there is really not too much more to say other than thank you from us both for all the help, support and volunteering everyone did to make our first rally such a great success.

It is very difficult for a fist timer to get an accurate rally plan that really works and leaves no one left out of the festivities, eating venues for everyone to enjoy all the musical entertainment we had at this rally.  Jr Lynch and his Peppercorn Band were great like always, Mark Woodward aka as ELVIS did a great job at bringing back memories of one hell of an entertainer we all enjoyed that are over 50 years old.  The light show by Cory just made this show of Marks one to be talked about for a long, long time.

Everyone that helped with the special meals, Ed & Ann, Kyle and family, Dave & Carol and all that just pitched in without being asked relieved so much pressure off us as the host and our deepest thanks go to you all.  The meal that was catered by Angie McFarland was out of this world with enough food to fill up the heartest appetite.

Thanks everyone for attending and all the support from us both, set the new date for next years rally to be held for the SEBN rally at Palmetto Cove in 2012 when announced.  Ed & Ann Gallant have stepped in to save this campground and time for the rally for next year and I know they will not let you down with the plans they will have.  This is not Ed & Ann's first rodeo, and the success of it will come from you all for attending and contributing to help no matter how small the choir would be.  Watch the board for special announcements concerning "April in the Carolina's" bus rally at Palmetto Cove, Cleveland, SC for 2012.

50 coaches was a great turnout, we will always be in debt to all for making it such a success.
Thanks one last time.
