Title: 8v92 Exaust
Post by: saddleup on July 28, 2011, 06:41:24 AM
Found a really good piece of truck chrome or stainless stacks around this truck shop.
Thinking about getting rid of muffler and strait piping, what you think Clifford.
Matt,
In Gillette WY headed, to Rawlins and Baggs.

That is your call cowboy, I had bought a Aero muffler for the bus but never got around to installing it and sold it to Wayne 3 or 4 years ago going to be a little loud with a straight pipe I would think

good luck

I think the Aero would be alright I buy those from a pickup after market place in Houston forgot the name but they weren't all that bad on the prices for Aero lol anything is going to be cheaper than the muffler that is there now I passed out when I got the bill for that one years ago

good luck

Think i will check into them more, probably be better than a strait pipe , or i could try the strait first, then do the areo if it s to loud, what size pipe is on this bus without me having to go measure.

Is it just me?  That didn't sound all that bad.

I was thrown out of bed, literally, one morning when the 8V92 next to me left the park.  That thing must have had an amplifier hooked up to it I kid you not.  He lit'er off and was moving in the same breath and gone in seconds.  Must have been sitting there with the block heater on for a couple hours to get that kind of performance from a fresh start engine.  Now had he sat there and gunned the engine for a few minutes I might still be serving time.

What   no black smoke  other wise it sounds about as good as "HUGGY".

Dallas had a video of huggy leaving NC Bob's and it was down hill.
still loud.

The 8v71 n/a with duals and straight pipes are loud way lot louder than a 8v92TA,a Eagle member Dossey has 4 straight pipes on his 8v71 in his Eagle you can hear that one when he leaves Ashdown AR if you are in Houston lol

good luck

That video does not do the sound justice, you would had to be there to really enjoy it. You could hear him for quite a while. He was quite an engineer and friendly guy.

I am thinking im going to try it, can always stick the aero muffler on, people in Wyoming wont even notice the noise what with all the bikers going thru.

You'll grow tired of the loud exhaust quickly and your neighbors will not appreciate it either.  Donaldson makes turbo mufflers that still let some sound through but are pretty quiet.  I have a 5" oval with inlet and outlet on the same end.  You look inside, and it only has one baffle.  Yet it does a good job of muffling without scrificing power.  Good Luck, TomC

Won't matter if you talk to him or not; you wouldn't be able to hear each other anyway.

Keep in mind that a lot of places won't let you use your jakes unless you have mufflers.

Don't worry Clifford i would never put stacks on, as far as bothering the neighbors, that would just be me getting even.
