Title: Don't I feel dumb - frozen batteries
Post by: bevans6 on January 24, 2013, 12:19:32 PM
I went out to put a charge on my house batteries and found them all frozen.  There must have been some tiny draw that discharged them over the six weeks since I was out there last, to the point where they could freeze in our record low temps we are having.  What a PITA.  Four 235 AH golf cart batteries only 2 years old.  I left them in the bus for convenience, and while I took off the main loads there must be something still on, maybe the fridge computer.  Oh well...  I am thawing them, but I don't hold out much hope.

Nope, Dallas. It wasn't his door that froze shut. And his batteries didn't freeze from running the heater in there ;D :D ;D Sorry Belfert.

I feel for you Brian. That is too bad.

My starting and house batteries are all happily being charged by three stage chargers.  No frozen batteries here.

I left the master switch on and had an aircraft batt freeze solid once. Took it out, thawed it on a radiator and it worked just fine.
