Title: 8-71N 4 valve head.
Post by: tmathis on April 08, 2013, 10:28:26 AM
looking for a reputable, reasonable source for a rebuilt head for my Eagle.
I'm in central Texas and would look at a shop to rebuild mine as well.
Anyone out there with a lead?

I'm in beautiful Dripping Springs, Texas.
Or as we call it here "Just West of Weird" referring to the unofficial Austin slogan "keep Austin Weird"

Yes I have mine off, I had no/minimal compression on one cylinder. One of the valves has a hole about the size of a pea on one edge. I'll try to post a photo later.
If the seat is not damaged I am considering just dropping one valve in the head and putting it back together. I'd rather have a rebuilt head though. The onlyu guy in my area who'd tackle the job quoted $1,000 to $1,400, and insisted he would not do anything but a complete rebuild.

No it shines like that cause it's just been replaced. I had hoped for a bad injector, a lot easier than pulling that head, no such luck.
Even with shipping, that seems to be a great deal on a rebuild. I'll look them up.
Thanks!
