I'm looking at a set of 11R 22.5 Goodyear drive tires. The owner say's they are load range G. The tires that came with the bus when it was a passenger bus are load range J. I did the Google thing but didn't get much help as to whether these were an appropriate replacement. Can anyone shed some light on this for me ?

Load range G in 11R-22.5 size has weigh limits of 6175 lbs single and 5840 lbs dual. I don't have an 11R-22.5 load range J in my chart, only metric tires in load range J that I can find. The question is how much do your axles weigh? With the 11R-22.5G tires you are good up to 12,350 on the front axle or a tag axle, and 23,360 on the drive axle at 105 PSI, which is the highest PSI for that size tire in my chart. There is a load range H in that size that goes up a little higher.

Good Year tires are my very last choice.

I agree with Dave about Goodyear tires. I happen to like Michelin, but I'd take most any American, German, French, Canadian or Japenese made tire over a Goodyear. Good Luck, TomC

Not a fan of Goodyear either. Purchased new goodyears for the steers. Within 3 days, I had a bubble in the sidewall the diameter of an Orange.
Thank goodness it was on the outer sidewall and not the inside sidewall.
Pulled the wheel and tire and took it to Goodyear in the back of the truck. They replaced it without question.
