About 15 yrs ago, the DW & I ventured further south, to the old light house before it was moved inland, dry camped close to it for a night.  reminded my why I am not a beech bumb, having lived one year at Surf City, NC while playing Jarhead @ Lejeune and Courthouse Bay in the early 60's, I rekindled my dislike for the smell and sand.  Give me the Mountains. Amen.

Boy do we miss Hatteras. We plan on a return trip in a year.......about the time we pull the plug and hit the road!

We stayed at Camp Hatteras when we visited the area and loved it.

Hope you had a great time!

All the best!

I see this is an old thread, but I'm in the mood to reply. We haven't stayed on Hatteras since 2002, and the bus we had at the time was not far enough along to make that trip. We DO get to Ocracoke, however. We'll be back there on about October 10 and stay until they close the Federal campground. I'll be playing music at The Topless Oyster several times during those three weeks. We'd love to meet other bus nuts who happen by.

I'll post a larger version of my avatar so you'll know what to look for. Be warned, however, that I'm in the process of reskinning, and the bus will look some different. The mostly black area that is mostly windows will probably be mostly crappy white primer. Oh well, the bus is a work in progress.

Anyway, here we were on Ocracoke last October. Itching to be there again.

Tom,

Now ya'll know we would not come all the way out there and pass the chance to see you folks and take in the views of that beautiful acreage you have. We were just talking about ordering some crab cakes from Jimmy Lynn's.....have had a bad hankering for them for some time now ;)

I have been working on the coach every time I get a chance. I have pulled out the interior from the back of the coach to the doorway of the kitchen galley/bathroom entrance, pulled out ceiling and added reflex and high density foam and will be installing new ceiling panels once I figure out what I am going to do about running wire for more side marker lights up top before we button up the ceiling......then onto the kitchen/ front galley so it could be another year before we get heading that way. We are also considering a switch from manual to automatic.....just seems like the list gets longer with all the upgrades we are doing to her.

AND we will be hitting Hatteras for a while after we drop by and annoy you folks for a while.....LOL

Lori says to give Phyllis hugs from her :)

DW and I are itching to leave for Ocracoke, but mechanical issues have delayed our departure. May get to leave next Tuesday. We'll be there until early November. I'll start another travel thread for that trip.

It's good to hear from you guys! Glad you are making the bus yours. Remember, it's not only the destination, it's the TRIP!

Phyllis says to hug Lori back x2

You all are welcome anytime. Maybe we can meet you in Hatteras. We'll bring the crab cakes!

I really need to send you some images....changes are going to be good ;)

That would be great to go to Hatteras with you folks and the crab cakes would make it even more special, but then again, would would sure love to take in the quiet relaxing property you have. I will be sure to let you know when we get closer to parting from Phoenix.
