Title: bus adventure
Post by: tekebird on January 28, 2007, 09:32:10 PM
in case you guys don't belong to the other popular bus board.

there is a group of guys from TX who have bought a converted TDM4515 in Wash and are planning on driving it home...basically sight unseen....

maybe we should get a pool going on how far they get.

They may vave a few problems but I'm betting on them.  Always root for the underdog, remember this old story, "David and Goliath"

They said they are leaving in May. May in the Cascades can be kinda miserable if I remeber right. Been a few years since I was there.
I would bet the under on 1500 miles, if there is anything to this. ;D

I think they got it on e-bay for less than $300.

They can make it . . . maybe. . . just depends on what kind of luck they have.

A friend drove a 4501 out of the desert with almost no water in the 8V71 (if added it would blow it right out). He drove it ~45 minutes before he got it stuck in a ravine & was forced to call a wrecker. The ole girl was still running when she got stuck.
BTW, this one was already converted to motorhome & will be remodled & put back on the road. . . eventually.

I questioned his judgement before he tried to drive it out of there. He is a great guy who is doing lots to save these ole scenicruisers.

His version of events that day will have you in stitches, Bo & Luke Duke ain't got nutthin on him!

Well the boys from Texas had a change in plans, so I bought the TDM 4515. I live in Renton Washington so I did not have too long of a trip. She ran fine 60-65mph all the way home, about 185 miles. I think she might have made it to Texas....

Yeah I seen that bus when it was on ebay and followed the story about going to TX. I wondered what ever happened and now I now The Rest Of The Story..     Jerry
