Title: Bay dimensions
Post by: Hi yo silver on February 04, 2007, 08:27:41 PM: The answer is probably somewhere in the archives, but I don't see it. Will my 8 foot step ladder fit crossways in the bay of a 96" bus? If it won't, I might as well give up and get rid of the unused ladder I've been hoarding for the last 5 years. Thanks

Post by: H3Jim on February 04, 2007, 08:33:12 PM: YOu probably have les than 8 ft across. I have a 102, and I have a little less than 8 ft myself. It can still fit if you put it on its side, and diagonal across the bay. Not very effcient use of space though. I save all those things until I can actually try it. The space etc sometimes surprises me, and other times it give me yet another "genius" rated idea when I see the items and the space together.

I found this out when I loaded 20 or 30 sheets of plywood in the bay. The door wouldn't quite close all the way. I had to drive the 5 miles home slowly with the bay door wide open. I did take out the light bulb so it would be less likely to catch someone's attention.

Post by: Runcutter on February 05, 2007, 07:01:37 AM: Dennis, a question. Is there a way you can fit it diagonally (either horizontal or vertical orientation)? If it doesn't have to be parallel or at right angle to the coach, you gain some extra length, and you may not have to skew it much to gain what you need. The middle bedroom in our 4107 is a little short for my taste, so I'm working on a concept to place the bed at a slight angle - to gain some extra legroom (don't plan to use it while moving).

Post by: Ed Hackenbruch on February 05, 2007, 09:23:03 PM: I have a 12 ft. ladder in the bay of my 5A.....of course it is a telescoping ladder that is only 29 or 30 inches tall when collapsed. ;D

Post by: Dreamscape on February 07, 2007, 01:15:40 PM: I bought a folding ladder at one of the box stores, aluminum,folding and extends to reach just the top of the side of the coach. It has worked great and does not take up too much space in one of my bays.
