LarryH do you know where the Eagles are located in Quartzsite I am planning to drive down Monday to look around if its not raining thanks
-
The official Eagle Rally is Jan. 18/20. I am sure that some folks are going early. We will be there tomorrow for a quick night stay and then on to Indio for the FMCA show. We will return for the rally (will be there a few days early).
I don't have the exact location for the rally, but we are going back to the "old" location again this year which is on the south side of I10, east on the frontage road right where it turns south (all of this from a person whose mind is fried from fighting the wind and rain for 500 miles today - so don't hold me to the exact description). I know that you can see the site easily as you approach Quartzsite from the east.
We left on this trip over a week late, so that I could get some projects done and now we have painted ourselves into a corner - what's new? ;D.

Their supposed to be on East side of US95 on Kuehn think it's possible these headed on out to Scaddan was as they was past where Rally is supposed to be around the 18th I think is date.

Hey Jim, if you find you have some time to kill come on down and visit us in Yuma for a few days. We have a free space for ya if you are interested. ;D Ed
-
We did not make it to Quartzsite on Monday, but as we drove through yesterday, I looked and the Eagles were not parked where the rally will be. I hope they join our rally later this month.
We did make it to Indio and are trying to recover from a pretty rough trip with terrible wind and rain most of the way.
Ed, thanks for the offer. We have some time between the rally and the big FMCA rally in Pomona. Not sure how we will use the time, but would like to visit, even if briefly.

Don and I will be arriving at Quartzsite on the 18th. Of course, we'll be in his Country Coach since my Eagle has no interior. I'm looking forward to seeing all the Eagles and getting ideas and learning from folks who have already done it.
-
Oh sure, Pick on the guy without the eagle. ( LOL )
See ya all there.

But you make it so easy in that ole stick n' staple that you drive! ;D ;) ;D
You know I'm just teasing you. That Country Coach is more bus than most of us will probably ever have... Besides, it's my ride to Quartzsite so I certainly wouldn't pick on it!

Who is in Quartzsite now??? I have been here since Friday. I am in my semi so I am parked at the pilot. I was down in Yuma from the 7th until the 10th late. It's hard to locate you guys and /or gals out here. I don't know if we will make the rally due to freight. If I can, I will be there...just don't be upset that I will have a 5th wheel ;D!!!

We went there for a few days right after christmas but had to leave because of a death in the family. Maybe next year we will be able to make it! We were the only ones there but the office guys said lots were coming!
-
Ron,
You should have swung by Minnesota to see how nice the MC-5 tucks into the shed as long as you were out driving!

Just a quick update. There are a 30 Eagles and couple of other buses plus a few motorhomes at the rally. Probably a few more will show up today (Friday).
We are at the far east end of the service road on the south side of I10.
If you are in the area, come see us.
Jim
Forgot to add that the GMC and Flxible groups are in an area south of I10 on the service road and just east of 95. Some neat buses in those groups, especially the Flxibles!

don and I will be there in a little while. We made it as far as the Flying J at the state line last night. Of course, we had a nice stop and a nice dinner at a casino an hour or so back from that. We're going to have some breakfast and then head on out. Someone save us a spot!
-
Come on in!! The desert is not full yet!!
FYI..it looks like the Blue Birds are gathering real near us in LaPosa South.
-
Can someone locate us a spot out back somewhere ??? We are in Our semi and should be there sometime tonight. We broke down last night >:( and are in the shop now. This will be my first rally and I hope ::), if it is a success, I will enjoy going to many more ;D!!!

Did not count this morning yet, but we must be close to 40 Eagles now.
An Eagle showed up yesterday that just blows your socks off. The paint job is unbelievable, it has a huge Cummins (625 HP) and I am told the interior is as good as the best commercial "bus conversions" (did not get a chance to go inside).
I am told the folks are in the bus conversion business. If so, it is a great show piece.
A must see if you are in the area.

Don't know if Hal St. Clair will be there, but he extended his 05 by 5 feet, widened it to 102, raised it a foot I believe and the last I heard the DD was in the 650 hp range. Really a beauty to behold, both inside and outside.

Sounds like "Drawing and Quartering". ;D
Is that feasible?? Man that would be allot of work!

Any chance you can a picture or two and post them?! It sounds unique.

40 or more Eagles in one spot? No wonder i did not sleep well last nite! The wind has been coming from the north the last few days and it must be carrying the sound of all those birds rusting, all the way down here to Yuma. :) Just funning ya guys, i have an Eagle next door to me and another one across the street so i am used to the sound...... ;D

Hal is here.
There are some very modified units here. Catskinner is here with the Eagle that has the drive and bogey axles reversed (like an 01). There is a stretched 10 (45 feet). Lots of engine conversions. Kind of Mecca for folks who like Eagles.
Oh, almost forgot to list Bob Belter with his bus that has been modified by a large tree ;D (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=6874.0)

I just got home last night and I have about 200 pictures. I'll post a few here shortly and will have the rest available on my website. It was a fantastic time with lots of great buses and great folks as well!
