inverters
« on: November 19, 2023, 11:51:02 AM »
I need some information. I was just given 2 sw3024 xantrex inventers but I have a 4106- 12 volt with the 50dn alternator. I now have 8 12 volt agms with a old freedom25 inverter and been wanting to try lifepo4 batteries. Is there a way to charge the 24 volt batteries with the 12 volt alternator and convert the 24 volt down to 12 for all the house systems? I sure would like to use these inverters. Only 1 is all I need or want.

You can buy a 1 wire 24v alternator for a 100 bucks and belt drive it is the best way to go.a parallel solenoid will increase 12v to 24 tying the battery's together but I don't have any idea how to lower the voltage for the chassis ,I think the 100 buck is going cheapest way to go

You can convert from 24 to 12 for the house system using an Orion or comparable product.

25 amps won't do much for a 900 amp starter ,I doubt 25 amps would even make the solenod click

Maybe I misunderstood. The "House System" is lights, outlets, fans, etc.

24v bank but everything else is 12v. That's what I was referring to.

His chassis is a 12v system and he wants a 24 volt bank from the 12 volt system the way I read it.going from 24 v to 12v is easy ,I can do that with a center tap between the batteries

The 1 wire 24v alternator is going to be the cheapest and simple solution IMO,no high price gadgets to deal with,a belt, a bracket ,1 wire to the battery bank since the regulator is internal in the alternator

I don't think the one wire alternator would play nice with lithium batteries and no room to mount a extra alt.

ol713  I don't want to sell anything until I am done playing. I would think shipping would be a killer from Florida to California.
