Finally finishing up my 24x60x16 bus garage
« on: September 27, 2024, 11:54:06 AM »
I've been planning for a garage for my bus for over a decade.  I finally came up with a design last year the city would approve that also fit my pocketbook.  It is 24 feet wide by 60 feet long by 16 feet tall.  There is a 14' by 14' door on each end.  The concrete slab was poured last summer.  The framer started around June 1st and took almost three weeks.  I've done everything else myself.  It is a stick built building with a hidden fastener metal roof.  The siding is LP Smartside.  The city will not allow pole barn style metal siding because I don't have the minimum of five acres.

The current status is that I got the roof done almost three weeks ago.  I still have to do siding, garage doors, and electrical.  I don't plan to get the siding done until next spring unless we get a really mild winter like last winter.  I haven't done any work on the new bus garage in almost three weeks due to my annual bus trip, but I plan to do at least one day of work this weekend.

Always good to see your posts Brian, I've missed them!

Great size for door width.  I went with smaller (12 foot width) to fit a couple of doors side by side, so I could fit a couple buses side by side.  And to fit other use cases (small apartment also to match the pre-fab building plan) for the barn.  I would not make that door width choice again. 14' would have been perfect.    My arrangement does work, but it's not exactly comfortable.
