Keeping your Generator Cool
« on: October 23, 2024, 08:29:41 AM »
The article discusses my personal experience with an overheating generator in an MC-9 bus during hot summer days in Southern California. When stationary, the generator would shut down after 15-20 minutes of use, prompting me to seek a solution.

After consulting Penn Lenson from Engine Heat Protection, I installed “Wet Blanket” insulation around the exhaust pipe in the generator compartment. This insulation significantly reduced heat buildup, preventing the generator from overheating and allowing it to run comfortably during stops. The article suggests that this DIY project is easy and cost-effective and recommends additional insulation options for those with uninsulated compartments.
