Tampa super r/v show
« on: January 18, 2009, 11:09:48 AM »
Went yesterday and found that they had a LOT more bus conversions then ever before! Could this be a changing trend in what people want?
Anyway, met a really nice guy that converts the higher end coaches from nearby Sanford and as it turns out, we have a mutual friend! He invited me to come over and go thru some of his "take out" stuff which I took him up on his offer! I told him he would definitely be hearing from me!
Seems that most converters don't want what they refer to as junk laying around so in the dumpster it goes! I've seen some of this junk and I told him he now has a new dumpster diver! He just laughed!
He did say he could hook me up with some really nice stuff at really cheap prices!
Yea that alone was worth the 6 dollar ticket! :)
The other coaches were very nice and glad to see that not all had the same floor plan!
What REALLY impressed me was one fellow that I talked to last year about my conversion, actually took one of our ideas and used it in his latest conversion. That was using bar stools at a counter! He said he never thought of it until I showed him mine last year! He did it and it looked good although it was on a slideout. Other converters mentioned that they feel the bus mfgr.s really need to think about making a 40 footer again to attract the campers! The 45 footers attracted the bands but not everyone wants a 45 foot motorhome.
That kind of makes sense if you think about it!
Oh well, gotta run!

Ace,

I drove past the fair grounds today.  Must have been at least 500 RV out back.  Sorry I missed the show.

I'm wondering if rich folks who can afford bus conversions are the only ones buying?  The middle class certainly aren't buying many RVs these days.

Are folks really requesting 40' bus conversions?  Do the folks who can afford these RVs take them to places that can accomodate 40', but not 45'?

What junk did you find at this guy's place?   Maybe he could list them on here.   Looking for a used water heater.

Why would you want a used water heater? Don't you already have a used one? You should be looking for a new water heater. Besides they aren't that much new. Maybe a C Note would get you a nice one!
Yes they tell me a lot of people ARE requesting 40 footers!
