Bay Configuration

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering how you have your bays set up.  Do you have all of your bays set up with hard wired items ( plumbing, electric, propane )?  Did you leave one or more bays open for seasonal/loose items?  Please post pictures and descriptions of what you did.  If you can explain the reasoning why you did things it might help those beginning their projects.

I have all fresh tanks, waste tanks and propane tanks in the rear most bay. The bathroom is located above the rear bay so plumbing was convenient, and only this bay has plumbing in it, all other plumbing is above the floor, that way if I ever end up in sub-freezing climates (which I never intend to have to do) I only have to be concerned with heating one bay. This leaves the front 2 bays completely open for storage, with the exception of the house battery box.

Hopefully your question will inspire boxcarOK to post some bay pics.  He does sharp quality craftsmanship and the pics are nothing short of bus porn.  He had an airbag problem and has not been on here in a few days I think.  He will be along shortly though.

Here's a picture of my water closet, fresh and gray  water tanks water heater and on the other side of the water heater in the Generator. I have to open bays.

I have most everything in one bay except the water heater.  The water tanks and plumbing are in one end of the bay and the generator is at the other end of the bay.  I've managed to keep one full open for cargo and most of another bay open except the water heater in the center of the bay.  I'm thinking about eventually moving the water heater up inside the bus into a kitchen cabinet to free up that bay.

To everyone that has posted for far THANKS!   I am also interested in some comments/pictures from those with house battery banks and inverters.  Has anyone put a wall in the middle of the bay to separate the systems?  Where are you putting your generator?  Do you have any part of your systems on slide outs?  The kinds of things new bus converters wonder about. 

Links to your project pages are great.  A few pics here would be great also.  Photo hosting pages come and go.  I know I have clicked on links only to find the person no longer has an account.  Some basic photo's here would be around for the new folks well into the future.

Thanks for sharing your ideas and hard work.  That is what makes this place so amazing.

I will tell what we did.
Old AC condenser space -  generator
Middle space, old evaporator/heating coils and fans - Batteries, 4 8D AGM's and 2  8D AGM's -  took place of the old starting batteries.
First bay - Inverter on forward wall Driver's side. Electrical panel on forward wall P side. Tool boxes on slide at aft end of bay -P side. Propane enclosure, sealed,  opposite inverter container 2 5 gallon bottles.
Second bay no permanent fixtures , except piping for storage of collapsible ladder and center awning support.
Third bay - From Drivers to P side forward to aft. Webasto, waste tank, hot water heater second row plumbing manifold/connections, water tank, aux fuel tank. All hoses in this bay. Tankage 125 gals - waste and fresh. Aux fuel 50 gals.

I'm lucky I have 4 bays with the 45ft coach a XLE so one for utilities including holding tanks and gen set. My fresh water is under bed. and hot water heater under sink. I have 3 free bays for treasures. Front for lawn chairs-6 ft table-2 fold up bikes-yard games.  3rd curb side for entertainment center/small dorm refer for beverages. rest of that compartment accessable from drivers side for storage of the seldom used items and supplies. center for Judy's shopping fixes.   Bob    or bus treasures

We converted a narrow joey bed to full 4 ft wide in the front bay.  i put a shelf all the way across and side to side about 2 ft up, so i slide chairs, grill, etc onto the shelf.  the joey bed has containers filled with "stuff".  the middle bay has genset on one side, propane tanks in a custom built section on the other with the fresh water behind them, as well as about a 30" space for our freezer, hot water tank and storage.  Rear bay has black and grey, inverter, and storage.  The batteries are where the bus air was, in a semi isolated compartment next to the engine.
