Clutch assist system
« on: May 15, 2016, 05:09:47 PM »
My MC8 has the normal clutch assist cyclinder and once it was cleaned and lubricated, made a huge difference to my poor old knee.

I have another vehicle - an OKA 4WD truck that I use out in the desert and advancing years mean that my knee tends to protest at the hundreds of gear changes I have to do to cross hundreds of sand dunes.

I read an old post from Jim-Bob in archives saying

We have an air assisted clutch on our GM 4104. It reduces the clutch pedal effort from 75 Lbs to 18 lbs! It uses a 3" cylinder mounted at the clutch lever and a mechanical actuating valve installed in the clutch arm pull rod at the rear. The valve opens when the rod pulls as you step on the clutch. It dumps as you let up on the pedal. It does not use electric solenoids.

It has proven trouble free & I recommend such a system.

I doubt whether I could fit the MC8 cranked air cylinder system, but maybe could do something similar to this one with the valve.  Does anyone have any info on the components and the general set up please.

If the vehicle has a three fingered pressure plate, you can reduce apply pressure significantly with a diaphragm style.
