ROUTING THE 50 CORD TO THE OUTSIDE OF AN EAGLE!!!
« on: February 20, 2007, 06:41:06 PM »
I am trying to find the best way to route the 50 amp cord from the second foward driver side bay to the back of my Eagle at the tag on the driver side. can someone show me some pictures or give me some pointers. There is a channel underneith the coach on the driver side, but i need to know how and if this area will work!!!

Bill,

For what its worth, my gen sits in the second bay, and my fuse panel in the back bay closest to the axle.   The 50 amp cord runs across the top of the bay from my genset to the panel.  My back bay has a hole cut in the floor so I can drop my 50 amp (shore power) plug in cord  out the bottom and still close the bay doors when parked.

I wouldn't be a big fan, of running the 50 amp cord from the middle to back bay under the bus, just seems  like too much exposure.   It was hard to tell from the post, exactly what you are trying to accomplish.  But thats how mine is set up.

There are quite a few variables here. What year is your 10? Does it still have the bus a/c? Where around the tag do you want to put it? Did the bus have in station air? If the bus a/c was removed what all was removed? Sometimes Caldwell liked to do quite alot of building in the bays, sometimes not.
I have read a post of yours wondering about Caldwell stuff. I seem to know more about their buses than they do. I've owned more Caldwells than I can remember, I love their stuff. Because they always have so much going on, their mind isn't really on past things they have built. Any questions, ask away.

Bill,
Your post implies you're pulling a shore cord (like we use to pull out of the bay to the power pole).  If so I don't recommend that.  It is more of a temporary type cord.  If you mean general wiring from the 2nd bay back to the tag area, then I recommend THHN #6 in flex conduit.  Put a J box at the end and wire the cord to some screw lugs in the J box.   The conduit allows you to pull and strap the cable just about anywhere without the worry of chafing or pricking the wire.

I did my 10 this way and have a 50 amp safety disconnect where the shore cord is wired into the box.

Just my way.

Sorry it took so long to get back with you guys. I have taken som pictures of what I have. It looks as if someone had changed the original location of the shore power hookup from the back of the coach (1st picture) to the second bay door (from the front) on the driver side. (2nd picture) I'm simply trying to put it back in the shorepower outlet.
PLEASE ADVISE!!!

Bill,
Your pictures did not come through on your post. Or are they posted elsewhere and I missed them?
