Not related to the bus world & coming strictly from the plumbing world, a mechanical swing gate check valve should always be mounted in a horizontal position. If one should happen to be working in a vertical position - consider yourself lucky!

My news valves are installed and it says on the package" horizontal check valve " seems like Aqua Hot would have caught that .lol incase you haven't purchased brass fitting lately they will give you sticker shock

I refer to brass, copper, & bronze as Gold, looks like it, costs like it so it might as well be it!...
Our old turtle is an antique and is full of gold, literally...  :^

By the way if anyone is interested in 2" brass swing gate valves - good old new USA stock we have some!  :-X Literally.
