Is anybody a member of this?   I am thinking about listing my parking spot on here for some weary rv travelers. I have a full hookup I could share with someone.  It looks like RV folks have their own form of Air B&B.

I think staying at some places like this would be kind of fun.

We used harvest hosts, when they were based in Prescott AZ, stayed in a pretty vineyard in central CA for free, great experience,  lvmci...

Yes, I am a host.  We also have stayed as a guest a few times.

Everyone I have met through boondockerswelcome.com has been courteous, no complaints whatsoever.  For us it has been fun.

You can't charge anyone to stay, so in that way it's not like AirBnB.  But you can ask for donations to cover the cost of the hookups you provide, and almost everyone has left us $10 (sometimes $5), even though I say "No donations requested".

I signed up recently with them along with Harvest hosts, and Passport America which is a lifetime subscription that was offered through FMCA last year. 1/2 price for two days, then reg. price. A couple nights stays will pay for it. We'll be traveling a good bit of this summer, so they'll all get used. I especially like the BoondockersWelcome site. You punch in your unit length, and it eliminates any sites that cant handle it. then select one and it lists everything that is available at that location. Will be using it in a day or two when we leave N.C.

We are charter members (free lifetime membership) We only get a few guests a year, kinda off the beaten path. Mostly we get snowbirds going one way or the other. All of our guests have been great. We have been guests a few times and everyone was extremely nice. We don't charge for anything.

Yes,  We added our shop to their system a month ago. We are not a classy place with views or nothing. But, it is a place to park in a safe place and can handle any sized rig with full hook ups at our shop.  We have had a few customers tell us about the app. I did not think much about it. They did say there is a lack of hosts in the Northeast area and it would be great. We have already allowed people to stay the night and pay for services for almost 5 years. So, we said why not?

We always have guest in the winter time, and charge nothing but most are like Dave5C they want to pay their own ways, lol sometimes I get people for a few days that lasts for months and offer to pay for nothing but that is not the rule of thumb in most cases,I don't invite people I don't know to stay in the summer because I have been left with some 6 to $700.00 power bills running 3 roof tops  AC's 24 hours a day and the fridge and water heater turn on electric,Gary Hatt will use his generator here when he is plugged into a 50 amp service for his AC units

Clifford thank you again for your Hospitality, We enjoyed the time we all had together again.

We are actually members of Boondockers Welcome and have used it a few times so far so good. We are fulltimers and so we are guess'. It is a good deal at most places when you can't find a good RV park or a place to overnight you just look one up on the app and put in a request and normally excepted. Some charge a little some nothing but some only have 15 amps and don't want you to use your genny so that can be a problem for some but we have Solar and an inverter so not bad unless we need both air's. We always offer to give the host something even if they say no. Just not right in our books.

That is a great point that is an issue with the 50 amp service part of the app.   They say that a donation of a max of 10 bucks. but if that person is using the full amount of power all day long. That 10 bucks is a no go for me.  I would only offer 30 amp max. even though we do have 50 amp available.   There is no way we can afford someone else's power bill. But, you would hope that the person is a fair person and pay you a worthy fee for their power use. It is worth being up front with the person about their power use.  From what I hear. People are generally good.

Today I did get a email from the app that they did merge with another well known group. So, I expect there will be more opportunities for those looking for hosts.

Who did they merge with?  I can't find any info online about this merger. . .

I didn't think about 50amp use and big bills, but that could sure happen in south TX in the summer. (3 AC's and an electric water heater)
I have a 50 amp hookup now.  I think I would lock it and provide 30 only. I would just want to give someone a safe place to spend a night and move on.  Not much to see here in Pleasanton anyway.  It wouldn't be more than a rest stop.
