Probably so. I don't drive in snow or use to back a boat down ramp into saltwater, so won't be an issue for me.

I don't think the plastic covers do as much damage as the S/S covers, water gets into the covers and can make a mess of the nuts and studs with corrosion. I always removed mine once a years and cleaned the nuts and studs,I have had some come in where you needed a die grinder to cut the covers off the corrosion was so bad because of the 3 different metals types

Our SS nut covers have dimples on all the hex nut flats covers for snug-ness so they don't trap water unlike our first go around with chrome on steel simulators.

I have some lug nut covers now that are all metal and rusty. I haven't checked them with magnets or anything like that, but I doubt they are stainless (or any good level of stainless). I'm on the other side of the country right now (without the bus!). I'll look more into the comments and consider my options when I get back next week. Thanks everyone for weighing in. Great information!

If you're into simulators like we have been for 44 bus year now, our 1st set was chrome on steel, we had them for about 8 to 10 years before they got to rusting really bad then we bit the bullet and spent the extra $$$ on stainless steel simulators and they are on for over 30 years and look like the day we put them on. They fit our 11-22.5 steel Budd wheels. If you're interested I could resurrect the receipt to get specifics on them.

I have a good set of (6) 22.5 S/S Wheel Master simulator covers in the shop that needs a home, the center sections where used on Alcoa wheels but you can buy those about anywhere for under 20 bucks
