I don't get to read every topic and I had no idea who Libby was. For what ever reason I just read this and can say that I feel as all other here. Add my prayers to the others.

Cody,

I am so sorry to hear about the ventilator. I pray that she starts doing better! Just keep on pushing. I know it is very tough on you and the family.

I am still praying.

Cody,

Sorry to hear about the down turn.  Hope this gives the body time to recover.  Every time I talk to Hyeyong, the first thing out of her mouth is how are Cody and Libby.  She sends a big hug to you both.

You are in our prayers,

The ventilator will give Libby some rest.  Breathing with pneumonia is exhausting work.  Now a machine's doing the work.
The vent will better inflate her lungs too, and I hope, offer up a great outcome.  She'll be sedated so she won't be paying you much attention at all.
Ideally, a few days on the vent and off she comes.   Depending on the percentage of assist, and her strength, she could be off shortly.
I'd guess that Libby's WBCs are elevated...if the treatment is correct, and Libby is responding to the treatment, you should see a reduction of WBCs on a daily basis.   That suggests that the treatment is correct and working.  Unfortunately, sometimes the treatment is correct and you don't get the desired response.  Libby has her way of doing things...and she's in charge right now.
We're praying for Libby...and you!  Keep the updates coming!   JR and Terri

When you think about it, lots of us who have had surgery or certain medical procedures have been on a ventilator until we are better to breath better on our own.  It's a common practice.  We're thinking about you both.  Hang in there.

I just got home from the hospital, libby had an ok day today, last night she had some problems but when we got there she was propped up and was being fed some lunch, she can't feed herself yet, but she looked better than yesterday, she tires out very quickly.  Thats the main reason for the ventilator, she tires out and stops breathing. Her eyes followed me as I walked in, having her know who I was, was nice, that was the first sign of recognition I had seen from her so it's a big step. They have put in a central line into an artery in her neck, they use it anytime they need to draw blood.  The doctors cautioned me about reading too much into her appearance today, she still has a long rocky road ahead of her but we're hopefull for her.  It's very hard to see her like this and she cryed when I said I had to go home, it gets very difficult sometimes.

Oh Cody,
Is there any way you can stay with her. That made me cry to hear that.I know it may not be possible but it is so sad. :'(
I'm probably not making things easier for you and for that I apologize. But think about it,it would save you that long drive.OK I'll shut up now and keep my thoughts to myself.Big Hugs Peabody

Cody, thanks for the updates! I know that several of us are praying daily for you and your wife. I have never met you but my heart is heavy. May the Lord bless you and keep you in his arms. Thank you for reminding me to hug my wife today and tell her how much I love her. Your commitment is truly an inspiration.

Thanks
