Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

I recall seeing an Eagle in BCM several years ago that had a similar set up.  It seems to me that the back of the roof opened up like a clam shell.  Pretty impressive but I can't find the picture.

MAK's Busconversion Mag had a skoolie that hualed a car in the rear. on the original floor.  Believe it was a Clamshell door.
Bus was right extensively redone, with height increased and sidewalls boxed square.  Looked like that funny bus that was on the market for so long....mayba a Crown?   Rigger bus for proguction company.  Probably make a nice motorhome, but it ws hugely heavy.
Lots of smallish racecars hauled like that.  You give up most of the RV living space. I'd rather pull the toad.  I dont want it in my bed.
If you want to do this, don't start with an MCI with upper radiators
