Sammy has made his last bus ride.........
« on: April 13, 2009, 03:00:00 PM »
I just received word that our fellow bus nut Sammy, passed away last Monday, due to a heart attack, caused by Leukemia.  The Leukemia was discovered only three weeks before his passing and had attacked his entire body.

Even thought I have never meet Sammy in person, I counted him as a friend.  I'm sure many of you will share that feeling.  When I had transmission problems in Gulfport, Ms. it was Sammy that spend many hours helping me on the phone and through email, trouble shooting my problem, for two months.  He would call to offer words of encouragement, just to keep me on track, to keep me going.

I was told there were two wakes for Sammy.  The first 200 people attended, the second 400.  It would appear that Sammy was very well thought of, not only on the board, but at home as well.  The funeral possession, had 49 cars, and one bus, as it should be.

I passed on condolences, to his wife, from the bus community, that we felt fortunate that Sammy spent so much of his time with us.

Sammy was a motor head, the same as I.  We sent car photos of his hot rod and my Stingray, car jokes, and other items of mutual interest back and forth.  He will be happy at the big garage in the sky, where there is a 427 big block and a bus both needing his attention.

God Speed My Friend,

Sad in Tampa Bay,

Bill

P.S  If anyone would like to share any good "Sammy" stories, I'm sure he would be okay with it.

A truly sad day for bus nuts indeed.  Sammy was always a big help to folks.  Always willing to look up information and share his expertise.  He will truly be missed.

He gave me lots of good advise and also the print manual for my bus for just the cost of postage.

My prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

Sammy was a great friend and mentor to many of us. If we needed something we could always count on him to be the first one up to bat.

PS, I'm gonna let this ride here for a bit and then move it to the final arrival so he can be with Richard Bowyer and Craig Kerr

He was a big help to me troubleshooting a transmission problem.  Even made up a connector for me and wouldn't let me pay him for it.

Sadly missed....

When I was an apprentice printer my boss would tell me of people "who forgot more than I would ever know". At the time it seemed like an absurd thing to say. But the more I learned the more I understood what he meant.

When it comes to buses, Sammy was "that guy".

Through this board he helped me numerous times with problems far beyond my ability.

He will be missed. God Bless Sammy and his family.

This really comes as a shock as Sammy was very instrumental in helping to diagnose my electrical problem not far back! We had talked a few times and emailed as many. Sammy I know in my heart, would have helped anyone with anything just from the talks we had. He will be more than just missed on this board. It's times like these that you just sit and wonder why but only one knows the answer to that and it's not for us to know until the time comes!

Sammy, I'm sure you will always be a part of this board with the much help and education you provided to those of us, especially me, that just couldn't understand the things you certainly did! Thanks again, buddy!

Sammy will truly be missed here...

A fine gentleman and a friend to many is what he portrayed to all.

I think Sammy worked for New York transit and brought a wealth of diesel and mechanical help to many busnuts in need.

I hope god has busses up there for you to fix!
