Thought provoking safety related email... off topic...
« on: July 04, 2006, 11:58:56 AM »
This message was sent to me by one of our fellow busnuts. I thought I'd place it here. Moderators can delete it if they feel it's inappropriate.

I didn't check it out on Snopes.com to see if it's authentic, but it's certainly thought provoking, and so possible and predictable. I know exactly how I'd have reacted.

Please read on...

Subject: Important Message from the CHP

Important Message from the CHP

Here's the scenario:

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get
inside. You lock your doors, start the engine and shift into
reverse. You look into the rearview mirror to back out of
your parking space and notice a piece of paper stuck to
the middle of the rear window.

You shift into park, unlock your doors, get out of the car
and walk to the rear to remove the paper (or whatever it
is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back
of your car, car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into
your car and take off! Your engine was running and they
practically mow you down as they s peed off.

Guess what ladies and gents? I'll bet your purse and/or
other valuables were still in the car!

This is a new car-jack scheme that is now being used...
very successfully.

What to do: Just drive away and remove the object that's
stuck to your window later.

Be thankful that you read this email. It would be a good
idea to forward this warning to friends and family:
especially to women! Their purses contain all of their
identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone
getting your home address, because - guess what - they
already have your keys!

Take care everyone,

It may be false,

But today, there's a man in the hospital in Baltimore who dang near lost his leg and his 5 year old kid because some jack-@$# decided to jump into his still running truck at the gas station.

It's a jungle out there.  Just because I'm paranoid, it don't mean they ain't out to get me...

Jimmy >:(

BTW:  If they do get me, they'll have to dodge some bullets to do it.

So....what if it's not true?   It's a scenario that could unfold in any city in America.  How would you feel, if it was true, that the woman in the story was a wife, daughter or grandaughter?  Just use it as a wake up call...America!   Our 'Land of the Free and Home of the Brave' is being challenged from the cesspool of those who would prey upon us and ours.

For me, personally?  C'mon. My home no longer has a Rottweiler for protection....just watch out for the owner!  He's congenial but carries a Glock 40!

True friends are difficult to find, hard to leave and impossible to forget.
