4104 wont start
« on: July 06, 2006, 10:46:29 AM »
i took in a homeless man about 8 months ago and he wanted to help me paint the bus so he began disassembly and then had a stroke after he had taken it apart and now for some reason the bus will not start. he is ok and now living in a health and rehab center but the wife wants to move into our new home and the tour bus is stranded. please help if you can, if i can just get it 20 miles down the road so we can stop paying a monthly fee thank you.
i drive a 1959 gmc 4104 and love it most of the time.

Need more info. What IS it doing? Does it cranik? Does it start and then die?  Does it just look at you like you're not holding enough cash in your hand?

Diesels need fuel and air and a charged battery to start.  Eliminate the possible missing link. Start with batteries. Are they charged? Go to fuel and air.

If it's been sitting 8 months, it's probably either dead batteries or lost it prime.

Give us a bone here and we'll help you out.

First item to check...the air damper above the blower.  If it's been tripped the engine won't start.  We've seen more problems associated with this item than God's got children!  Check it out, or have someone check it out for you.. and Godspeed with your purchase! :)

As gumpy says, tell us what the bus does and what you have done and maybe then we can help.
